Are you a thermometer or are you a thermostat?
A thermometer just measures its surrounding, it goes up and down depending on what is happening around it. But a thermostat regulates its surroundings by not letting itself be changed by what’s happening around it.
Paul was like a “thermostat”, he was content in any and every situation that he was in. He did not let his surroundings change him but instead he had his mind set on Christ Jesus.
“12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
