Hello, I am Joshua P. Warren, and this is Joshua P. Warren Daily, and I have a true, a true Area 51 story for you, and the timing is perfect because last night, all over the United States of America, TV stations were airing this segment that Chris Welch, the reporter, and his cameraman Joe shot with me and Darren Evans and David Weatherly and Nick Weird about Area 51. It aired on Scripps networks all over the country and was in Scripps papers and websites. And you know, yesterday uh I think it was like one o'clock Pacific time, I the Google alerts started coming in. Oh, ping, ping, ping. You know, you you're in Texas, you're in Arizona. All these all these different you know, stations started popping up. And how lucky we are. A wonderful, wonderful, wonderful piece. Once again, you know, we we have had so much success getting good, respectful reporters who do really, you know, they're they're they're so talented, you know, and they I don't know how they take something that's sort of an epic concept, and they go in with no sleep and they just talk to a bunch of people and then cut it together and polish it and put it out, you know, within 24 hours, and it looks fantastic. But that's how talented these reporters and cameramen and editors are. And so it was especially great publicity for creepyvegas.com. Uh it that you know, the there's a link to the website, creepyvegas.com, that uh actually accompanied the piece in the printed form all over the country. And you know, I say the country, but really uh it's it's the world. I mean, nowadays with the internet, everything is all over the world. And you'll find a link to it at, of course, if you well, if you go to joshuapee.com, uh you can access my Twitter account at Joshua P. Warren, and you know, you can see me posting it in the usual places. But um Creepy Vegas is well, creepy Vegas is the ghost and UFO show that I created. And it's it's new and people are still learning about it. But let me tell you, that show has become so popular that today, you know, the because we do this at least every Saturday, we do it sometimes on other nights of the week as well. But today, we have a reporter who has flown in from the Netherlands with a photographer to go to Creepy Vegas and do a piece about us in the Netherlands. So if you are anywhere near the Vegas area, you need to come and experience this. And plus, we're always growing and adding new things and changing it up and getting better. So creepyvegas.com is the you know where you want to go to learn about like what's the newest stuff that we're doing. And we have we we have some surprises, some new surprises, actually. Um but anyway, creepyvegas.com. In the news piece that reporter Chris Welch did, he talked to Nick Weird on camera, and Nick said that he is going to go to the Storm Area 51 event. And so I have, you know, I'm gonna make him my correspondent. So basically, I'm going to give him credentials of you know some kind saying that he he's there to to do a report, and I'm gonna give him a camera and an audio recorder, and I don't know what he's going to do, but uh he is going to at least go and see what what what's happening, and we'll have a report for you here from Las Vegas about the Storm Area 51 event and and whatever happens. On the other hand, in the piece, I said that I would not be going there. And the reason is I said that I am fully aware of the fact that Area 51 is a real active part of a true military base, and I don't want to badger those folks. And furthermore, to be honest with you, I don't want to jeopardize the possibility that I might be able to even see some of the work that they are doing someday. So, you know, I I'm not going to go and personally get involved, but you know, as a member of the media, I will tell you what I glean from those who go out there. And you have to understand, okay, every single day, there are, well, at least every weekday, there are thousands of people who live here in Las Vegas who get up early in the morning, they go to the airport, they go to a special uh classified, well, top secret part of the airport called the Janet Airlines. Nobody even knows what Janet means. They get on these airplanes and they are flown to Area 51 to work for the day, and then they're flown back in the evening. And the only way you can even identify these planes is that, you know, they're white with a red stripe going down the side. And so, you know, Lauren and I'll be driving along, and oh, look, there's a there's a Janet plane, you know. These are people who just came back from Area 51. But but the the reality is it must be kind of frustrating for the people who do work there because people think of Area 51, and all they think of is aliens. And the fact of the matter is, this is a huge groom lake facility, and they're doing all kinds of classified work, and there's only one part of it that is Area 51, really, and that's not even the term they use for it anymore. It goes back to a historic reference on a map, and then there's an even smaller portion of that where it is said that alien technology is being back engineered. So my point is it's a huge facility. There is a lot of stuff happening there, and a very small percentage of it has anything to do directly with aliens and UFOs and exotics, you know, exotic technology, as Senator Harry Reid called it. Um, so I'm sure that uh people who just go there to work on whatever their portion of some project is probably get you know annoyed with the idea that people automatically jump to aliens. And one reason that you know you have to respect the people who get up every day and go there and and work. And and and you know what? Well, wouldn't that be something to be on one of those Janet airlines? Maybe someday, somehow, I will get an invitation to get on the Janet plane and fly to Area 51 and do anything. Just give me a little a little sticker, you know. You know when you're a kid and you go to the sheriff's department and they give you a little sticker that says junior deputy, just give me a little sticker or something. If I ever get to fly there and get a little sticker and come back, wouldn't you like to hear that podcast? Wouldn't you like to hear me tell you that story? So I hope that happens. But in the meantime, these people who are there working on things, they are working on things that are very, very serious when it comes to our national security. And the story that I'm about to share with you is good historic proof of that. Because sometimes it's nice to talk about Area 51 without it being dependent on you know aliens and UFOs and all that stuff necessarily, so that you have a glimpse, and that's all you're gonna get. Just a little peek into what they're actually doing there around you know the the Groom Lake facility, dreamland, right? So before um I get into this, let me explain something to you, uh, especially if you've never been to Las Vegas. A lot of people think of Las Vegas as a as a desert. And recently I got messaged um from uh someone in my audience who says, Well, yeah, you know, I don't like going to Las Vegas because it's a it's a man-made wasteland. That was the words that were used. And um, you know what? That is that is not at all true. I mean, because maybe you just went from the airport to like a casino and then back to the airport, and you and you say, well, I've seen it all. But you you have to understand, Las Vegas it's a valley, you know, and it's surrounded by these gigantic mountains. So, for example, when I look out my window right now, I can see parts of Mount Charleston that are approximately 12,000 feet tall. And, you know, I'm from western North Carolina, where we have the highest peak east of the Mississippi, Mount Mitchell, which is 6,684 feet tall. Well, Mount Charleston over here, you know, 12,000 feet, that's almost double the height of Mount Mitchell. And the other day, Lauren and I were driving down the road and it was 110 degrees, and we looked up and there was still snow on top of Mount Charleston here in July, you know. So you have to understand that this is Las Vegas is a valley and it's ringed by these extremely tall mountains, and there are all kinds of scenic, beautiful, wondrous, striking moments when you're driving here. You go through the Red Rock Canyon. You I mean, like so anybody who would describe this as a wasteland has clearly not explored enough, but you know, I wasn't going to debate that. I'm not with the Chamber of Commerce here. I'm just letting you know, we have these huge, beautiful mountains all around here, and that is extremely relevant to the story that I'm about to share with you. So we have this magazine that is published in Nevada, and it's called, simply enough, Nevada magazine. And by the way, I used to call it Nevada, but when you get to this part of the world, everybody says, ah, Nevada. If you say Nevada, you know, you don't know what you're okay. So it's Nevada. I know that may sound weird to you, but that's what they call it. Nevada. You gotta get used to saying that. Nevada magazine. And they have a great website, nevada magazine.com. It's very simple. Nevada magazine.com. And this magazine in the printed version here is super high quality. I mean, it's nice, thickly bound on really, you know, sturdy paper with, I mean, photos, photos, photos. I mean, this everything about this magazine says quality, you know, quality. But what really struck me was the quality of the actual articles in this magazine. So here I was uh a few days ago thinking about all this Area 51 stuff, reading an issue of Nevada magazine, which is actually the May-June 2019 issue. So this would be their last issue. They have a newer one out. Um And so I came across this article and it's called Nevada's Only National Memorial. A mysterious aircraft disaster outside Las Vegas hints that Nevada has been on the cutting edge of technology for decades. Secretly. Okay, now you've got my attention, right? So I read this article, and I don't do this very often, but as soon as I finished the article, I started contacting people with the magazine. I contacted the magazine and the author of this article, and his name is Kyle Plascon. He I think he goes by Kai most of the time. Kai Plascon. And I contacted him and I said, I want to read this article in its entirety on my podcast. Well, you know what? I got a message from the author himself, Kai Plascon, and he said that I was welcome to read this article in its entirety. As a matter of fact, he even offered to read it in his own voice at some point to and and so hopefully he'll he'll do that in any other articles that he has, and I will provide them because you know how often do you find somebody who's a great writer and a great you know speaker, presenter who can record that stuff and send it to you? I mean, how what what a nice thing, what a what a cool offer that is. So I'm taking advantage of that. But I wanted to go ahead and get this to you right now because of the fact that the piece aired on national news last night about Area 51, and I'm hoping that by me reading this piece to you, it gives you a more serious perspective about what's happening there. So listen, if you don't believe in aliens, if you don't believe in ghosts or spirits or like any of that kind of stuff, then you are going to especially appreciate this piece because this is a no-nonsense historical glimpse into what is going on at Area 51. So, courtesy of Nevada magazine, and again their website is nevadamagazine.com. In fact, uh you can go there and read this article, the May-June issue. Courtesy of Nevada Magazine.com and Mr. Kyro Plascon. I am now going to read for you his article called Nevada's Only National Memorial A Mysterious Aircraft Disaster Outside Las Vegas, hence that Nevada has been on the cutting edge of technology for decades. Secretly. Oh boy. Here we go. On november the eighteenth, nineteen fifty five, Las Vegas awoke to a fire near the very top of Mount Charleston, where there was not a scrap of wood to burn. Quote, flame just like there was a fire, end quote. Henderson resident Laverne Hanks recalls. Her husband who worked for KLAS TV, tried to investigate. But men with rifles blocked the road to Kyle Canyon. So he turned around and went home. Quote, my husband was followed all the way home by the FBI, Hanks recalls. And when he walked in and she asked why he came home, he said the men with rifles threatened him. Quote, you cross this line and I will shoot you, end quote. Hanks and everyone else around the nation eventually learned that it was a plane that had crashed in a violent storm the day before. What Hanks didn't know was that her brother's body was up there along with a dozen other men. No one except the US military, CIA, and FBI knew that the plane, a C-54, Skymaster, USAF 9068, held the key to the biggest, baddest, and blackest of black projects that was being developed at Area 51 at the time. Now I'm going to repeat that for you. No one except the US military, CIA, and FBI knew that this plane held the key to the biggest, baddest, and blackest of black projects that was being developed at Area 51 at that time. Key project personnel were on board, and the CIA and FBI urgently needed to get up there to secure classified materials. Upon their arrival, park rangers told them that the snow was so deep it would be impossible to get there until spring. That wasn't an option. I'm gonna pause again. Let me remind you, we're talking about this is November of 1955. They're saying Oh we have to wait till spring. Not an option. The Air Force dispatched parachute teams to try to skydive in. The wind was so strong that the effort was abandoned. Then they tried a mountaineering team with skis and snowshoes. Only a few men made it in waste deep snow and could do little more than secure the wreckage. The military needed the expertise of Nevadans who knew these mountains, knew the routes, and had one resource the military didn't have horses. The selected group was the sheriff's mounted posse, led by a man named Merle Franer. Franer gathered a bunch of volunteers, including his brother and a short, stout horse named Joe Snip, also referred to as the Snowbuster. The posse gathered at the Mount Charleston Lodge and took inventory of their supplies. Some of the posse members wore high visibility rescue jackets with black and white diamonds. The sheriff's posse brought candy bars, sandwiches, cigarettes, and whiskey. Others carried no food at all. Quote We figured we wouldn't be gone long, Sheriff Butch Leipolt wrote of the plan to hike for nine miles and waste deep snow to an elevation of eleven thousand feet. Okay, this is a time for me to pause again. Let me reiterate this to you. Nine miles. You know how you're driving down the road and you're looking at your GPS thing on your phone and you're like, how long is a mile? Well, it's actually kind of a long ways. Nine miles on foot, waist deep snow, going up to eleven thousand feet. It's hard to breathe when you're you're that high up. Alright, let's continue. Next heading here is uh Big Brother. Alright. The Atomic Energy Commission, the agency tasked with assisting in the recovery, was not impressed with the plan and ordered the posse to stand down, expressing doubt they would ever make it. But after the powers involved realized there was no other option, they gave the rough and tumble Nevadans the go ahead. The posse set out at four AM with seventeen horses. The stout little pony, Joe Snip, led the way through the drifts of the snow. His head would move two feet to either side. Side and his neck would push the powdered snow, breaking a trail. Man, there were times when the snow was so deep that we get off our horse and just hang on to the horse's tail and let them pull us along on our bellies, Lapole wrote. Some members of the party became sick and had to be carried down. Ice cut the horse's legs, leaving a trail of blood. After seven hours they reached the crash site. Seven hours. Debris was scattered forty, fifty yards in all directions. The oddest thing was the co-pilot. He was laying on his back, some thirty feet ahead of the plane, buried in the snow. He was wearing flying shoes, which were all that was visible, and those shoes looked to be a yard long. He looked like a giant from a fairy tale. Wrote posse member Pat McDowell. Now by the way, I'm not sure what flying shoes are, but apparently there's some big ass shoes out there called flying shoes. Alright, back to the story. Air Force officers ordered the posse to wait while they secured classified material and documented the rubble. Quote, two Air Force colonels had ridden up with us, Franer wrote. We are going to freeze up here if we don't get started going down the mountain, and so will our horses, he said to the sheriff. Well that prompted the sheriff to talk to the colonels and get started with the gruesome task of removing the bodies. The horses didn't like the weather and started bucking. One of the passengers was missing, but the posse didn't have time to worry about that. With the bodies on the backs of the horses the posse would have to walk. They were on their own. The trail was frozen solid. Walking on chunks of snow was like walking on boulders. More than once a horse would slip and roll down the slope, and we'd have to go down there and drag him back up onto the trail and start out again, Franer wrote. The altitude made it hard to breathe, and the men had to use shovels to clear the trail. Bodies fell off the horses, and had to be left by the trail to be picked up later. In the black of night the men began to stagger and fall. I drank what was left of the snake bite medicine that is whiskey. It gave me a lift. I got hold of the horse's tail and let her pull me along, but not for long. That's from Pat McDowell. Quote, it suddenly seems like my guts had fallen out and I couldn't go another step. He climbed on the back of his horse named Cindy, sat behind the dead body, and rode into camp at 820 PM. The 16 hour ordeal ended with the military demanding an oath of secrecy from the posse members. Now, okay, I'm gonna pause again. Think about that. You go through this unbelievable situation, and you know, you come back, you drag yourself back, and you've succeeded. You brought them whatever these plans are, whatever they and then you know they pull you in there and swear you to see. I wonder how they do that. You know they must have a Bible, right? They whip out a Bible. Nowadays you probably have to have about ten different books there. Uh put your hand on one of these and make you know swear an oath. The next heading here is called Loose Ends. Military personnel fanned out across the United States and visited the families of the victims, bringing the message of their fate. In some cases the message was a lie. Or the military said pretty much nothing at all, just that their loved one was dead and one day the family would be proud of their work. Behind the scenes, investigators put together a crash report detailing how the plane was blown off course due to high winds. The sign out cover sheet for the classified crash report shows that few people ever looked at it. It doesn't mention what kind of classified work the group was doing or that they were doing it at Area 51. The report was locked away, and for all intents and purposes, that plane was officially still out there flying. See, again, I'm departing from the article, but isn't that intriguing that this was so secret that a plane crashed and all these people died, but officially on paper it was still listed as being out there flying because they didn't want to record the crash. That gives you an insight into how all this stuff works. Not trying to make you more conspiratorial or anything, but you know, this is how it works. So according to the military aircraft registry, USAF nine oh six eight was not withdrawn from service until nineteen seventy. So again, uh we're talking about what fifteen years after it crashed, they're still claiming it was active. New information came when a man hiked up to the crash site in September of nineteen ninety-eight. By then the crash site was just a flattened pile of wires, pipes, and wheels. Standing over the wreckage in the silence, hiker Stephen Reary had a revelation that everyone on that plane had died and someone should find out who they were. Reary also found the person who had been missing from the plane. Henderson resident Bob Murphy. Okay, now Henderson is this town which is right next to Las Vegas. And a lot of the people who actually do the work in Las Vegas live in Henderson. So this guy named Bob Murphy, who lives or lived in Henderson, was the guy who was supposed to be on the plane who wasn't. So let's find out why he wasn't on the plane. Says um he was listed on the flight manifest, but it turns out he had slept through his alarm and missed the flight. Don't you love those stories where something horrible happens and then you have those people who go, Man, I was supposed to be on that flight, and the world, you know, screwed me over somehow and I didn't make it, and now it's a it was a blessing in disguise. Um all right, so uh says he was the missing link. Connecting the crash victims to the highly classified work they were doing at the time. The victims were CIA, FBI, and private contractors working on building the most high tech intelligence project at the time, the top secret high flying high altitude flying U to spy plan. The planes were credited with gathering critical intelligence during the Cold War and are still in use today. Murphy says the crash paved the way for military contractors to require more experienced pilots. The crash also added to the urgency for more accurate weather data for flights. Reary tracked down the declassified crash report and called the families of the victims providing answers they had long sought. Though he didn't stop there. He reached out to legislators and politicians, telling everyone that this story needed to be told and preserved. Quote, at first I didn't pay any attention to him. His story sounded implausible, says U.S. Senator Harry Reid. The more I talked to him, the more I realized that he was the one that was right and I was wrong. Some of them, the victims, had no funerals. It is important that we recognize Cold War veterans who sacrificed so much and got no attention. It is speculated that thousands of Americans died like this in obscurity during the Cold War, victims of secrecy. But Reary's effort spreading this once untold story of military FBI and CIA victims eventually convinced Congress to approve the nation's first Cold War National Memorial. It was dedicated in May of twenty fifteen at Spring Mountain's visitor gateway at the base of Mount Charleston, thousands of feet below where the plane crashed. The memorial features a twisted propeller from the crash site that Riri removed himself with the help of volunteers. Next heading The Crash Site Today The crash site of the C fifty four is near eleven thousand feet where the air is so thin most trees can't grow, and it's as desolate today as it was in 1955. The remote location has mostly preserved the site. Quote, back in the fifties there were people who made it their job to go to these crash sites just for the aluminum, says Dave Trojan, a 30-year wreck chaser who has surveyed more than 500 crash sites. Quote, I would say that only 10% of plane crashes are like this, where the whole airplane is there just in pieces. Trojan says. He calls his work Aircraft Archaeology, and sites like USAF-9068 are especially valuable. He said, Quote, I reinvestigate these accidents and I believe that things can still be learned from them, he says. For instance, what proof is there that this was a top secret military plane? Well, the answer is in the wreckage. Sitting among the gray rocks and bits of aluminum is a big bracket. Riveted to the bracket is a plate that says, quote, U.S. property MT362A slash A, end quote. Through research, Trojan found that this bracket held the IFF, which is identification friend or foe system. Quote, it would have been very important on this aircraft and a must-have to be able to fly into Area 51, he says, quote, this system would have allowed crews on the ground to identify if an approaching aircraft was a friend or foe. If it got into the wrong hands and put an uh put on an enemy plane, they could fly into the Area 51 airspace without raising alarms. Securing classified equipment like this was critical to the Air Force on that mission to the wreckage in 1955. At the site, you can also view propellers, engines, wings, windows, controllers, airflow regulators, and internal communication devices. Quote, when you see the aircraft wreckage, that is all opened up. You can see the engineering aspect, which is different than what you see at the museum. You get to see the internal working parts, Trojan says. Quote, that creates an appreciation for the engineering aspect that no longer exists in today's aircraft. However, at the crash site there is no identifying information. People who happen upon the site experience the same mystery Reary did twenty years ago. Trojan says this would be a prime location for a metal post and sign. Quote, it helps the public so that they know what they are looking at and it helps prevent vandalism at the site, he says. Reary says he hasn't worked out the details with the Forest Service of where a sign identifying the crash could go, but this summer he hopes to find himself on the final trek of this twenty year journey hauling a sack of concrete, a post, and sign up the mountain. Quote, this is probably the last piece of the puzzle, he says. For those who can't make the trek up to the high elevation where the fateful crash took place, Nevada's only national memorial whispers the story of these brave men who sacrificed everything for secrecy. That again, published in Nevada magazine. Nevada magazine.com. I'll put a link up there for you. And again, my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Cairo Pluscon who gave me permission to read that to you. Now that shows you that when we talk about Area 51, Groom Lake, call it what you will, the Nellis Air Force Range area, you know, we there are many different names and references. When we talk about that, we are talking about a place that has been active for a long, long time and many projects. It's not just alien stuff. And I personally, you know, I think they're working on some you know exotic technology there, as Harry Reid put it, but nonetheless, if you put all that aside, it still shows you the power and the significance of that particular base, and that's why we have to take it seriously. So I hope you enjoyed that story, and I expect to be bringing you more along those lines. Well, it's a busy weekend for me. Uh so I have a lot of stuff to do. I'm gonna jump off here. I do want to tell you, though, once again, that uh you know I'm always building these odd, custom-made, experimental devices.
