Many companies will discover that they have a physical or economic presence in a state and decide to get registered in a state or multiple states. What we often see is that at this point when they attempt to do these registrations that there are questions that they are unsure of how to answer. Sometimes they will push through and it turns out that they applied for the wrong tax license. And a whole big mess ensues. It's no question that with new nexus and sales tax laws, getting registered for sales tax is more complex than ever.
