Welcome to "Go With The Flow" - the 53rd Episode of the Mind of Snaps Positivity Podcast!

This is a special podcast series that is separate from the regular Mind of Snaps Podcast, with a new release (typically) posted every Monday for Patreon supporters!

It is my goal to create as much positive & encouraging content as I can during these intense, uncertain times we're faced with. 2020 was so much more than anyone expected it to be, and nobody should have to take it on alone. The only way I can continue to do so, is with your help.

To help, you can: become a patron, subscribe to me on Twitch, you can send a tip which I'll turn into an investment... or you can simply share my content on social media. Every little bit helps me be able to continue to create the podcasts and other mindfulness & positivity based content in the future.

The format of these podcasts are forever evolving to reflect current events from personal to global, so I hope you are enjoying them. Please reach out to me if you have any suggestions!

Hang in there, friends... we're all in this together.

Unknown:

Good morning, my friends. Happy Monday. I'm actually recording I had to, I had to check my watch for a second to make sure that I have the date right or day, right. But I'm recording on a Monday again, yay. Yeah, I'm a little late for life and things. But that's fine. That's not a big deal. We are rolling with it today. And I'm just happy to be sitting here recording this, knowing that some of you lovely creatures are going to be listening to it, because I think you're so wonderful. So thank you again, for all of your support. Thank you for continuing to show up and be vulnerable and loving, not just, you know, towards others in there, but also towards yourselves. It genuinely is inspiring and so wonderful to see the way that you're all learning to care for yourselves and each other. And I'm just I'm just grateful to be a part of this. I'm grateful to be with you. I'm grateful to be recording this podcast right now. grateful to be starting off another nice fresh week in October. It's so crazy that it's October. I'm really still time, man. What a thing, right? Uh huh. Anyway, anyway, the next live video chat will be this Saturday. The next one this This next one is going to be the chill stoner chat. And please remember, you don't have to actually be a stoner or have any interest in smoking weed. If you'd like to attend this, you just have to be chill, don't have to be a stoner do have to be chill. We'll spend a few hours in a zoom call just hanging out chatting last time, it was really fun. Our last mindful chat was really nice. And yeah, we've got a lot of a lot of Saturdays of this month, almost every Saturday of this month. We've got video chats planned. So every Saturday, but Halloween, you can expect to see an announcement on the Patreon for one of our video chats. And I'm super excited about that I look forward to talking to you all a lot. Now let's get into what I wanted to talk about this week. I've been thinking about this, since I want to say Friday. Alex said something while we were driving, and it just clicked and I right away made a little note. What I want to talk about is going with the flow. And it's so interesting too, because this is something you know, all of these podcasts are based on, not just things that I think y'all could benefit from, but stuff that I recognize as a recurring theme in my life. So you can certainly anticipate some redundancy in some of these messages. But a lot of what we deal with really is the same ships applied in different areas. So this week, I want to talk about going with the flow. And part of the reason I want to talk about that is because there's some important steps that must be taken before you can actually go with the flow. And one of those steps is acceptance. You can't really go with the flow if you're not seeing what it is right. So the first the first step is noticing everything that's happening, accepting it all as is because we really can't change anything outside of ourselves anyway. And then just making that conscious choice to roll with it, do our best to take things day by day, hour by hour, minute, by minute, whatever it is that our individual circumstances require. If you're in a really dire situation, acknowledging that accepting it, and then choosing to place your focus in that kind of mindset of, I will just work on making it minute to minute and we'll go from there. There's a little bit of freedom that comes from that. And I've experienced this in my own life in really extreme circumstances where I was dealing with tragedy or trauma or really, really unfortunate or scary circumstances. And I've dealt with it in a more minimal way, I guess you could say, when I'm stressing over the future, or I'm worrying about whether I'm doing enough. What I'm starting to find more and more is that everything really does have a flow to it. And I just read this awesome book called Happy money by Ken Honda. And he described money as energy not as a thing but as energy as something that flows through the universe. And when we open ourselves up to money and we stop trying to cling to it and we stop fearing it so much. We will tend to notice that it flows a little bit easier. But it's not just money. It's love it's it's energy like the actual energy that gets you through your day and allows you to get everything done all of that has a certain flow to it and the more aware you become the more accepting you have the ability to be the more you can open yourself up to just going with it to riding the wave and we talk about that quite frequently in stream is because people have a tendency to encounter problems and believe that they somehow brought those problems on themselves they they believe that they are inherently bad or there's something wrong with them or they're cursed or have bad luck and that's why they have problems but that's not the case we all have them in varying degrees and those varying degrees hit at varying times but i think i think this quote that i've heard thrown around a lot really helps in circumstances like that you have survived 100% of your worst days like straight up if you're here listening to this right now you've made it you've made it through all of those really tough times that at some point i'm certain you sat there and said my god how am i gonna make it through this this is fucking awful this is unbearable but here you are you did your best to move through life to make it to this point and you've done it you're here so now recognize that in this moment of clarity which i hope that you're having while we're here kind of discussing this concept of flow if you're having a moment of clarity and you're really recognizing like oh yeah i have i have made it this far let that be a reminder to you that you will have more days where things kind of coast where you have made some massive progress in your self in your ability to handle things and so for maybe a week or two maybe even longer you're feeling just great everything is going pretty well you feel like you're on cloud nine like nothing could take you down and then something hits that thing that problem that challenge that obstacle whatever you want to consider it that finds its way in front of you isn't there because you dared to enjoy your days or because you started to think hmm maybe life ain't so bad after all maybe this is kind of a nice thing i'm in that's just the natural progression of things you level up a little bit so to speak and in terms of your own mental health and your and your strength and resilience and everything and then the universe gives you what's next okay you've made it to this point here's your next task and a lot of times those tasks those obstacles can seem overwhelming like we couldn't possibly make it through but you can you may be tumbled by it it may be really hard to move through but you can absolutely do it and again going back to that idea of awareness acceptance and choosing to flow with it choosing to flow with it is also choosing to acknowledge that while you're riding this wave the wave might toss you you might get tumbled up for a little while it might feel like you're in a frickin washing machine just just being agitated and moved around all aggressively but even that will end at some point something will eventually give or will subside to a point where you can get back up again and start riding the wave with a little bit more balance and really that's one of the biggest goals that i have in my life personally is balance across all circumstances all situations i would like to do my best to remain balanced and it's so funny that part of remaining in balance for me is acknowledging that sometimes i will be out of balance sometimes i'll fall sometimes i'll have those days or those weeks where i just can't see past my own shit but the more i accept that the more things flow the more i trust the more i trust in myself and in the universe the more things flow and in ken honda's book happy money he essentially is is asserting the same thing the more you view money as something that will flow the less attached to it you become the less you cling to it the less you try to control something that can't be controlled and instead you just trust in yourself to seek out new opportunities To be open to new opportunities that present themselves, and to find ways to both receive and put out happy money into the universe. And that idea of happy money is kind of if you're viewing it from his perspective, that money is energy, the way in which you receive it. And the way in which you spend it determines whether that money is happy or not. Are you spending this on something begrudgingly? Or are you spending this on something that you know you need? And even though the price might be more than you wanted to spend, you're grateful, you're grateful that you have the ability to spend it in that moment? Are you spending that money by reinvesting into your community in some manner, or by donating to worthy causes? Are you spending it to help yourself to have more structure in your life that you know helps you to feel better? When you receive the money, do you stop and say thank you, thank you, money, thank you for flowing to me this time, the thanking your money thing is a little new for me. But I have to say, I'm a huge advocate of gratitude, gratitude, I think practicing gratitude in all ways as often as we can, is such a valuable practice, and starting to apply that towards money towards trusting and just having faith, I will figure it out. If in this moment, right now, I'm not struggling to eat. I feel grateful. I trust that I will figure things out. And I am grateful for every bit of money that finds its way to me, I'm grateful for every bit of kind, loving energy that finds its way to me. So this week, think about that. Think about the ways in which you interact with your world. And whether you are going with the flow or if you are trying so hard to hold on to or cling to something, whether it's money or some other form of energy that goes in and out of your life. Are you clinging to an idea that you deserve to live a life where you just have good days, because if so you can view that you can see yourself clinging to something that isn't realistic, you can accept that that happened, acknowledge it, and then move forward, get yourself back into the flow. And it's so interesting to I've been wanting to read this book, flow. It's all about the flow state, it's by Chuck semi, I can't I can't think of his first name. But I've, I've heard commentary about this, I've heard it referenced quite a bit and myself, like I personally have experienced what has been called flow state, frequently in my life quite a few times. And every time it is so mind blowing, it's so interesting. It's such a beautiful thing, it's like you really get to watch yourself, do the thing. And not from just the cultivating the witness standpoint that we kind of talk about in our chats a lot. But it's a it's a totally different, unique and beautiful thing. You may have experienced this in your life, if you haven't, maybe that's a sign that you really need to start surrendering more that you need to start allowing yourself to go with the flow, go with the flow of your emotions, go with the flow of your money, go with the flow of your attention, go with the flow of your problems and your blessings and all of it. Because on those days where I feel like I'm in flow, it's the most connected, that I think I ever feel. Aside from what I'm tripping, maybe, or meditating, but that's a totally different story. But really getting into that flow state. That That place is always available within you. But as long as you're clinging and craving and wanting instead of going with the flow, it'll remain just outside of your grasp. You deserve to feel free. And part of that freedom comes from accepting that you will always have problems that there will always be ups and downs. And that you are totally and completely capable of handling all of them. All of it. None of this is beyond you. None of it. And if you really want to look again at the big picture. How could any of this be beyond you when it's all you? You're it. You're the universe, right? You're You're a manifestation of a single source of all of it. The more you accept without judgment, just like in a meditation, more likely you are to be able to enjoy that flow to get toppled a little less often. And to just feel present and grateful in your life. so that's my challenge to you this week pay more attention notice when you are attempting to resist the natural flow of things and find a way to accept and allow what's actually happening allow yourself to move through it with peace if it helps you at all look back into your past and try to think of moments where you felt like you were in flow if you're a writer there may have been a time where you sat down to write and you were like holy shit i'm not even the one writing this my fingers are just doing it whoa and you're having that like experience of whoa i'm writing maybe you are a runner and you would feel that when you would do marathons where it's just you're just watching your body run through it maybe it's in relationships where you've been really close to someone and through your love that you had for each other you were able to be fully present and so alive from it find those moments where you have experienced flow and try to think about how you can bring yourself back what kind of circumstances may have led you to that point what other things can you do that put you in a position where you can experience that and then aside from that like i said just allow learn to go with the flow the universe is on your side it may not feel like that all the time but it is so take some deep breaths look at yourself right now look at what you were planning on doing with yourself for the day right now at this moment become aware of it acknowledge it accept it and then roll with it go with the flow be like jim carrey and yes man except maybe a little bit a little less energy drinks you know what you're doing great my friend keep flowing with it keep manifesting dope shit
