Larry Doesn't Play Here Anymore! "But I do not want to live on a Boat"
Show Notes
Our good friend Terry Welte is visiting in town and we thought that her story is worth telling. Many here in Wasaga Beach and beyond follow her blog when it is up and running. http://sailmichellem.blogspot.ca Terry is a long time resident of Wasaga Beach 1991 to 2011. She was a teacher at various schools within the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School board and later taught at Georgian College. Terry was an active member of the Wasaga Beach Kinette Club for many years and represented Georgian College at the Rotary club. Terry was born in a Refugee Camp in Austria. Her family was sponsored by a Church in Southern Ontario which brought about their move from Austria to Canada. She and her husband Geb reside in Austria during the summer months and winter on the boat during the winter months. They sold all their personal belongings including their much loved home here in Wasaga Beach to live the adventure of their lives. Their boat "Michelle M" is a 47' custom build sail boat from Quebec. It is 50 years old and has been restored by her husband. The couple took a sailing course before sailing off into their new life. Their first trip out brought them to the middle of Hurricane Sandy. Their second most rough crossing was from Cuba to Mexico in November of 2013. Terry is currently writing a book entitled "But I do not want to live on a Boat" which she hopes to finish within the year, time permitting. Next stop is back to Guatemala for the winter. Geb is there now preparing the boat for more adventures. Terry Welte. She is a very intelligent and amazing woman.
