The Wasaga Beach Lions Club is delighted to participate in this year’s World Diabetes Awareness campaign on Wednesday, November 14th sponsored by Wasaga Beach Brewing Company and Beach BOOSTER Media Group.
Diabetes Awareness campaign is set on November 14th part of The World Diabetes Day coinciding with the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922.
To commemorate the day buildings and monuments around the world are being lit in blue. In Wasaga Beach the Fire Station Number One on River Road West will be lighted blue. Each year a theme is selected for the occasion by the International Diabetes Foundation and for both 2018 and 2019 the theme is “The Family and Diabetes” to highlight how diabetes affects not just an individual but spouses and children.
