Catholics have been putting their faith into action for 75 years in the Diocese of Joliet — and we have a lot to celebrate!

In Episode 6, Michelle Dellinger sits down with Fr. Sunny Castillo and Fr. Matt Lamoureux to discuss veneration and pilgrimage to shrines and the positive impacts they can have on our minds, bodies, and spirits. They also discuss the four shrines located within our diocese:
 
National Shrine at St. Anne’s

  • St. Anne Parish, St. Anne, Illinois
  • Established in 1888
  • Feast of St. Anne: July 26
  • St. Anne Novena celebration held each year, including an outdoor liturgy and relic procession

 National Shrine of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe

  • St. Pius X Parish, Lombard, Illinois
  • Established in 1974 
  • Celebrating its 50th Anniversary in May 2024; watch for event information
  • stpiuslombard.org

National Shrine and Museum of St. Thérèse

  • Darien, Illinois
  • Established in 1987; several renovations since
  • Four events each year: Christmas at the Crib in December, Walk with Jesus in March, Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel on July 16, and Feast of St. Thérèse on October 1
  • Littleflower.org

 St. Gianna Shrine

  • St. Patrick Parish, Yorkville, Illinois
  • Diocesan shrine established in 2024, created in 2014-2015
  • Feast of St. Gianna: April 28
  • Monthly healing service with relic veneration; annual Feast Day Mass with procession, rosary, and relic veneration
