FINISHING WELL -- II TIMOTHY 4:6-8
Dec 01, 2019

We live in evil times. Some say we are living in “post-christian” America (Post-christian = anti-christian -- I John 4:3 -- The spirit of antichrist was in the world 2000 years ago). All of this spells opposition for the child of God. One reason some says this is the problem of no
commitment, or misplaced commitment among believers. "Commitment" means to put in charge or trust. It is often used interchangeably with "dedication." Paul expresses his commitment to Christ in Philippians 3:8-12 (also, II Timothy 1:12). Paul was executed (beheaded) for his faith in and commitment to Christ. We need that kind of commitment to live in the trying times of today. II Timothy 4:6-8 was given in light of the prophecy of
perilous times (ch. 3) and as Paul faced the end of his life. These verses should encourage believers to faithfully serve Christ as they look for His return. They show us what we need if we are to remain committed to the Lord even in perilous times. There must be:

  I.  AN ATTITUDE THAT IS EXPRESSED -- VS. 6.
II.  AN ACTIVITY THAT MUST BE EMPLOYED -- VS. 7.
III.  AN AWARD THAT CAN BE EXPECTED -- VS. 8.
