EVIDENCE AMONG THE LORD'S CHURCHES THAT CHRIST'S COMING IS NEAR -- LUKE 21:29-33
Mar 21, 2020

When we think about the coming of Christ, there are some things we know.
Jesus is coming back -- John 14:1-3 ; Acts 1:11.
      When He comes, the saved will go to be with Him. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 ;
      I Corinthians 15:50-52.
The saved will ultimately stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ --
       II Corinthians 5:10  ; Romans 14:10.
We look for new heavens and a new earth "wherein dwelleth righteousness."
       II Peter 3:13 ; Revelation 21:1.
There are some things we do not know.
What the glorified body will be like -- I John 3:2.
Precisely how the change to glorified bodies will occur, or the glory we'll share --
    I Corinthians 2:9.
The day nor the hour of the Lord's return.
Matthew 24:36 -- No man knows.
That is reserved for the Father.
There are some things we may know.
Luke 21:29-33 -- The "season" of Christ's return.
We may understand certain signs, certain indicators that His coming is near.
Many of these relate to the condition of the Lord's churches in these last days.
I want to share some of these with you in this message and reveal how they apply, not
to the lost world, but to professed saved people. They are:
          Abounding iniquity.
          Abandoned truth.
          Abated power (ability).
God's Word says there will be:

  I.  ABOUNDING INIQUITY -- MATTHEW 24:12.

"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."

      1. INIQUITY = (anomia) violation of law; non-observance or transgression of the law;
          lawlessness.
This is not necessarily a violation of man's law.
It is the transgression against God's Word.
      2. ABOUND = to be multiplied; to be increased.
      3. When Jesus talked about iniquity abounding, He was not saying there would be any
          new sin.
      4. Is there more sin in the world?
Simple math would say there is -- more people, more lost people, thus, more sin.
Also, because of advancements in technology, there is more access to sin.
      5. Jesus said because of this, the love of many would wax cold.
WAX COLD = has the idea of blowing upon something to cool it off.
The "love" He was talking about is not a mere "fondness," but that self-sacrificing
           love for Him.
      6.  As God's people, we have been caught up in the gale of abounding iniquity, and it
has cooled our love for Christ.
It is the attitude of Demas in II Timothy 4:10.
It is the condition of II Timothy 3:2, 4.
