After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Mina and her family are shocked when they, along with all other people of Japanese ancestry on the West coast, are rounded up, transported in cattle cars and sent to places far away from their homes. They lost everything. Their homes, their businesses, their property. For years, people were forced to live in harsh conditions while the war raged. Mina’s family struggles to stay together, even after her father is taken away as a prisoner.
