In this episode, Heather sits down with a coworker, Derek, who recently transitioned out of an R&D role into a Supply Chain site lead role. He shares about how he got interested in chess, his early STEM life, as well as being an athlete. He was interested in psychology but ended up studying chemical engineering - but being in the workplace sometimes has some very interesting psychological observations since you are always working with other people. Derek is also an advocate for mentorship and is involved in an organization called America Needs You.
When he isn't working hard, he is active in club sports and loves to travel. He does enjoy a good brew and recommends SweetWater Brewing in Atlanta, GA. He suggests you try their Pale Ale. He and Heather also discuss a local microbrewery called Troon where neither of them has had anything less than a delicious pour.
