Part 4: Get Your First Client with The Springboard Method
Show Notes

When I was first getting started as a consultant, I was on the road, traveling full-time, and needed money, but I didn’t have any background in marketing, I had never worked with a paying client, and I didn’t know how to get somebody to say “yes.” That is, until I came up with what I call The Springboard Method.

If you’re brand new, what I want you to do is go out there, find clients, do the work for free for one client, and then turn that into a testimonial and referrals. That’s the Springboard Method. Any time after that when you get on a call with a potential client who asks if you have any previous results, you can say that you do and show them the results from your first client.

If you don’t know how to get your first client, I put together a script for you that you can use to post on Facebook right now. I’ve given this to tons of people and it works wonders. The first time I used this script, I ended up booking two clients at $1500 each per month. Click here to get it.

There’s another method I want to talk to you about when it comes to getting around not having credentials or experience. The misconception with new people is that it’s all about them. If you’re trying to get paying clients and you’re worried about yourself, you’re not focused on serving your client.

You need to focus on their pain. Assess the situation for the client and if you can help, you prescribe a solution just like a doctor does. When you can offer a solution, the business generally does not ask about your credentials or experience. By speaking directly to what they need, they say “yes, please help me.” Focus on who you’re serving, provide a result for them, and then turn that into more clients, testimonials, and referrals.
