Do you enjoy what God is doing in your life and the lives of others through this church family called New Hope? How does that happen? What is behind it? We’re going to explore some of the main reasons why God is able to do what He is doing in all of our lives. We’re going to talk about the “fuel” that keeps His fire going in our church family and ask Him to burn that fire brighter and brighter!Fuel: Servants#1. Our God cares about people.Matthew 9: 35-36Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News/ the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.Exodus 3: 7-9The LORD said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters/slave drivers, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.John 3: 16For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.#2. God calls us to do that work.Exodus 3: 10Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”Matthew 9: 37Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”#3. Being servants should not be strange to us.- it’s the example Jesus set for usPhilippians 2: 5-7Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.- it’s what He told us to doMatthew 20: 25-27But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles/nations lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave/servant.“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all theplaces you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you can.”- it’s the reason He gave us gifts & abilitiesRomans 12: 6Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…I Peter 4: 10As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.- it’s the best life to liveMark 10: 28-31Peter began to say to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You.” Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last, first.”#4.
