At first read, it is an alarming warning. 'Do not be like Cain,' John wrote to his congregations, and says to us today. But, Cain? How could a believer ever be like Cain? Doesn't that collide with what we believe about salvation? That's what we're going to talk about. Why would Cain's story be the best example John could think of when he was talking about love in the family of God?
