CS Lewis' famous argument that Jesus was either a Liar, Lunatic or Lord (which wasn't initially his argument), was in response to a popular thought–that Jesus was just, or only, a good moral teacher.

Many people have thought many things about who Jesus is. They thought he was John the Baptist, Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah or any number of prophets. But when Peter called him Lord and son of the God, Jesus explained that this answer was only possible through the assistance of God's revelation.

Who you say he is, then is as much a function of God's witness in you as it is a paradigm that will cause you to act and live in any such manner.

So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy. [1 Peter 1:13-16]
