Seeing the Good Samaritan
Show Notes

For our final sermon in our series "Flip the Script," Jesus ups the stakes and uses a simple story to name our implicit biases. So many know of the good Samaritan that the expression is more cultural than biblical. Of course Jesus wants us to be good like the Samaritan, to shape our behavior to serve our suffering neighbors. It is also likely that Jesus wants us to see the inherent goodness of the Samaritan, whom many around Jesus can only see through a lens of discrimination and stereotypes. Jesus is placing a cross in our path that reflects what we are capable of when our biases toward God's people dictate how we treat them. Can we see the goodness in the face of a stranger? Can we see Christ's life in the life of our neighbor? A sermon on Luke 10.25-37.
