In the moment, did Rosa Parks know that she would become an icon of the civil rights movement? Or was she simply tired of having to give up her seat simply because of the color of her skin? We often define our heros in our lives, our churches, our scripture by critical moments when God's light shines, which convinces us that we could not possibly be so radiant in our faith. Except, faith isn't just about a moment or two in history, it is about the myriad opportunities we are given every day to reflect God's mercy and justice. Is the moment we dread about us, or is it about the one we encounter and God's love with? Our sermon series, #ThrowbackFaith, continues with readings from Deuteronomy 9 and Matthew 4.
