The feeling of real guilt over sin is a gift from God meant to turn us towards repentance and right relationship with Him. Imposed guilt from ourselves and others often leads to isolation and feelings of shame. God wants us to be free from all guilt, by knowing what is real and dealing with it quickly and by recognizing when we are setting standards that don’t belong to God dictate chronic feelings of unworthiness and shame.

Scripture References
Psalm 34:5
They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.

Psalm 32:5
I acknowledge my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said I will confess my transgression to the LORD and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
