Summary: God's promise is to be a spring of living water to those who seek Him. But we all face temptations to dig our own cisterns instead, broken cisterns that can't actually hold water. Looking to the prophesies of Jeremiah, we can name and understand the cisterns that the people of Judah had built, to shine light on our own walk with the Lord.
