Introduced on March 6, 2017, if passed the
American Health Care Act of 2017 (AHCA) is expected to have an enormous impact on Pharma. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on March 13 released its
estimate of the budgetary effects of the AHCA, stating that under the new law, we could see 14 million more uninsured by 2018 than would have been under the current law – rising to 24 million more uninsured by 2026.

*As documented in this podcast, the effects are both direct and perceptual. Financially, $592B in revenues will no longer be spent on healthcare over the next 10 years, according to the CBO. Of that, an estimated $59B would have been spent on pharma.
