NARRATOR
In the previous episode of VOID, Anko, Jonas and Serebella were coming to grips with being stranded. Tensions started to rise between the 3 of them. And Gilban, Regina and Ursula formed a plan to confront Gideon and take back control of the Ching She.
EXT. TITAN SURFACE - DAY
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS
ANKO LUMEN
(through helmet)
Ok, move the dish to 38 degrees.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
38 degrees.
SOUND: ADJUSTMENTS, KEYPAD
ANKO LUMEN
Extracting atmospheric data now.
SOUND: MACHINE WORKING
JONAS ALDRIDGE
I hate to bring this up again Anko but we need to shut down after this sample.
ANKO LUMEN
Why? This is only number 23? I have at least 40 more to go.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
You know why. We have to start conserving power if we continue to be stranded here. We can’t keep draining battery power the way we are.
ANKO LUMEN
We have solar and wind.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
I know but your machines drain all the power from them constantly besides tapping into the batteries.
ANKO LUMEN
You of all people understand how important my work is.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
You’re right, I do. It won’t mean much if there are only 3 corpses that know about it.
ANKO LUMEN
Aren’t you being overly dramatic?
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Anko, we haven’t had any communication with the Ching She for over 72 hours now. Nothing. We have to start preparing for the worst.
ANKO LUMEN
Aren’t we the pessimist? As captain, aren’t you supposed to be speaking in a more inspirational manner and finding a solution to our communication problem?
JONAS ALDRIDGE
What communication problem?
ANKO LUMEN
The equipment on the Ching She works just fine, we all know that. The logical assumption then becomes that the problem is with our equipment.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
What are you talking about?
ANKO LUMEN
Did you ever consider that our gear on Titan was damaged at some point? Like maybe when it was being set up? Or perhaps some wind blew debris into it? Do I really have to do all the thinking here?
JONAS ALDRIDGE
We checked all that. The equipment here has always worked fine. We never had a problem with communicating with the ship until they left in the shuttle.
ANKO LUMEN
You probably missed something like a broken cable. Did you check all the cables?
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Don’t you think you’re talking out of your ass at this point?
ANKO LUMEN
Did I strike a nerve mister perfect? Maybe you didn’t check the cables!
JONAS ALDRIDGE
I’m not going to stand here and defend every little thing that we checked with you! You’re wasting time. Finish up and power down.
ANKO LUMEN
No.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
What do you mean no?
ANKO LUMEN
I mean, you can shove your orders Captain.I’m going to continue on as I see fit.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
We’ll see about that.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, KEYPAD
ANKO LUMEN
What are you doing?!
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Shutting down the equipment.
ANKO LUMEN
Oh no you’re not!
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, STRUGGLE, TRANSITION
INT. CHING SHE AIRLOCK - NIGHT
URSULA NASH
(upset)
Dammit! What did he mean about my parents?
REGINA REX
I have no idea.
URSULA NASH
Did you really have to flush him out of the airlock? Shouldn’t there have been some sort of trial?
REGINA REX
(heated)
I am the only judge here when it comes to mutiny on my ship.
URSULA NASH
(anger/frustration)
It would’ve been nice to ask him some questions first.
GILBAN TRICKEY
I’ve had enough of this!
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS
REGINA REX
Gilban? Get back here!
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS CONT.
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Gideon said everything he needed to say Ursula. He was working for the 5.
URSULA NASH
What? What do they have to do with this?
REGINA REX
They own my contract.
URSULA NASH
(distrustful)
So that means you answer to them too. And when were you going to tell us that he was an android?
REGINA REX
The hell I do! I just found out!
URSULA NASH
After all these years, you really didn’t know? I find that very hard to believe.
REGINA REX
Hey! This is all brand new information to me too so back off!
URSULA NASH
Your naiveté appears at an opportune time.
REGINA REX
Enough! I need to know, do you trust my command or not?
PAUSE A BEAT
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Well? What do think Ursula?
URSULA NASH
I think it’s really convenient that you flushed the only evidence we had of what’s happening out into space. Now we’ll never know the truth, about a number of things as it turns out.
REGINA REX
So this is all about you and your parents then?
URSULA NASH
No, it’s about heading back for Jonas and the others as well as finding out what’s really going on. But I guess the last part will have to wait.
REGINA REX
(through her teeth)
Yeah, I guess we’ll table this discussion for another time. We need to get the ship back on course for Titan.
SOUND: TRANSITION, INTENSE FIGHT EXT. TITAN SURFACE - DAY
ANKO LUMEN
(struggling, punching, etc., through helmet)
This has been a long time coming Aldridge!
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(struggling, punching, etc., through helmet)
You and I actually agree on something!
SOUND: FIGHT CONTINUES, FOOTSTEPS RUNNING IN FROM A DISTANCE, SHOCK STICK CHARGING UP, SHOCKS AND BEATING ADMINISTERED TO BOTH ANKO AND JONAS

(shocked and having the wind knocked out of him)

JONAS ALDRIDGE
(shocked and having the wind knocked out of him)

SOUND: BODIES HITTING THE GROUND, MORE SHOCKS BEING ADMINISTERED
SEREBELLA REON
I warned you both! I warned you this would happen!

JONAS ALDRIDGE

ANKO LUMEN

SEREBELLA REON
It’s a wonder you both haven’t killed us all yet!!

(becoming unhinged) We’re still stranded!

(to Jonas)
I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!
ANKO LUMEN
(vibrating and stuttering from being shocked so hard)
SSSSS...SSSEERRRREEEBELLLAAAAAA, YOOOOUUU’RRREE KKKKKK KILLLLLLINGGG HIMMMMM!!
SOUND: SHOCKING CONTINUED THROUGHOUT, INTENSIFYING
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(grunts starting to wane) HMMNNGHHH...
ANKO LUMEN YYOUUU HHHAVVVVEEE TTTOOO STTSSSTOOPP!!

SEREBELLA REON
(breathing hard, crying) Jonas? JONAS???
SOUND: TRANSITION, KEYPAD, STATIC
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT
REGINA REX
Hey Titan habitat? Is anyone there? This is Captain Rex on the Ching She.
URSULA NASH
Still nothing?
REGINA REX
No.
URSULA NASH
We’re not thatfar away from Titan are we?
REGINA REX
No, but Gideon managed to get us pretty far nonetheless. We should be in broadcast range though. Even with a delay we should’ve heard something by now.
URSULA NASH
Could something be wrong on their side?
REGINA REX
Maybe, unless... Astrid, run ship diagnostics on the communications system.
ASTRID
(malfunctioning)
Running diagnostics, ostics, run, running, run, ostics, running, run, ostics, ostics, commuuniiicccation coommm, now.
REGINA REX
Astrid, run system wide diagnostics.
ASTRID
Runnnnnn, rrrrrrrrrrrr, ostics, ostics, rrrrrunninnggg nnnnnnoowww, now.
REGINA REX
Dammit! I can’t believe it!
URSULA NASH
That doesn’t sound good.
REGINA REX
It’s not, Gideon sabotaged Astrid. Taking out the AI would’ve given him complete control of the ship.
URSULA NASH
How bad is it?
REGINA REX
We won’t know until we do a full reboot. He could’ve compromised any number of systems. If he took down our comms he might’ve tampered with other things like life support, food and water supplies, oxygen... Systems he wouldn’t have needed for himself.
URSULA NASH
What do we do?
REGINA REX
We’ll have to reboot Astrid and reconfigure everything.
URSULA NASH
How long will that take? We have to get to Titan, they’ve got to be going crazy not being able to reach us!
REGINA REX
I know, I know! I’ve been thinking about it, trust me. It’s going to take at least 18 hours or longer.
SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH OPENING, FOOTSTEPS MOVING FRANTICALLY, CARRYING BODY AND PLACING IT ON TABLE, HELMETS BEING REMOVED AND SUITS COMING OFF
INT. HABITAT - TITAN - DAY
SEREBELLA REON
Shit! Shit! Shit! Is he breathing?
ANKO LUMEN
(checking)
No! And there’s no pulse!
SEREBELLA REON
(panicking) What do we do??
ANKO LUMEN
Ok, ok, let me think for a second. What did Ursula...yes, I remember!
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS MOVING QUICKLY, RUMMAGING THROUGH EQUIPMENT, CASE OPENING, FOOTSTEPS, MEDICAL GADGET BEING TURNED ON
ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)
Give me some room.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, GADGET POWER RISING, LOUD PULSE
ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)
(checking Jonas)
Hang on, let me check. Still nothing. Wait!
SOUND: GADGET BEING ADJUSTED, POWER RISING HIGHER, LOUD PULSE PAUSE A BEAT
ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)
(checking Jonas again) Yes! There’s a pulse. He’s breathing again too.
SOUND: JONAS LETS OUT A BREATH/COUGH
SEREBELLA REON
(trying to calm herself) Oh, wow. He literally died for a minute. I did that, I actually
killed Jonas! Oh, no! What if you weren’t able to revive him?
ANKO LUMEN
(trying to comfort her)
He’s back, ok? You didn’t kill him. Not permanently anyway. He seems stable now, I think.
SEREBELLA REON
I just lost it out there, you know?
ANKO LUMEN
I think we all did. I felt like I was going to kill him. We were all out of control.
SEREBELLA REON
Yeah but I couldn’t stop myself. It was like an out-of-body thing where I could see myself shocking him and all I could do was watch.
ANKO LUMEN
We’ve all been under pressure. Especially since we’ve been stuck here. I’ve been completely focused on my work but I’m really worried that we’re stranded here for good. We should’ve heard something by now.
SEREBELLA REON
I’ve been feeling that way too and I’ve been taking it out on Jonas.
ANKO LUMEN
So have I, among other things. I confess that I thought you were going to take us both out for a second.
SEREBELLA REON
When I saw the two of you fighting, I wanted to. Do you know how stupid that was? If either of you knocked the other’s helmet off or if you punctured your suits you would’ve died! What the hell were you thinking?
ANKO LUMEN
Just like you when you were shocking us, I wasn’t thinking! He shut down my equipment and that was the final straw. I went to stop him and before I knew it we were trying to tear each other apart.
SEREBELLA REON
We’ve been out here too long.
ANKO LUMEN
(frustrated)
Reluctantly, I agree. The fact that one day here lasts 16 normal days isn’t helping either. This amount of light for this long is maddening.
SEREBELLA REON
(to herself) I really miss her.
ANKO LUMEN
Her?
SEREBELLA REON
(awkward, then changing the subject)
I mean them, the rest of the crew. Do you think Jonas is going to be ok?
ANKO LUMEN
Unfortunately.
SEREBELLA REON
Don’t say that. As much as you two bang heads, he’s been your biggest supporter.
ANKO LUMEN
Whatever. At least I get to gloat about saving his life. I’m going to enjoy rubbing that in his face for a long time.
SOUND: TRANSITION, KEYPAD
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT
URSULA NASH
Do we have any idea where we are or how far we are from Titan?
SOUND: KEYPAD CONTINUED
REGINA REX
(frustrated)
No. The navigation system seems to be compromised too. See the scopes? They’re all over the damn place.
URSULA NASH
Great, so we have no idea where we are or how we’re going to get to Jonas.
REGINA REX
Not just Jonas.
URSULA NASH
I know. I miss Serebella too. I have to confess that it is nice not having Anko around though. I feel so much more relaxed.
SOUND: BUTTONS, SWIPING
REGINA REX
I’m sure they’re fine, they had plenty of supplies to last for...Oh shit.
SOUND: SWIPING
What?
URSULA NASH
REGINA REX
They were about to do a supply run when Gideon’s mutiny attempt got in the way.
URSULA NASH
How long will their supplies last?
REGINA REX
I’m not sure, maybe a week. If they’re rationing.
URSULA NASH
And if they don’t realize their supplies are diminishing? What if they’re not rationing?
REGINA REX
Oh come on, they have cool heads. I’m sure they would’ve done an inventory by now to prepare since they haven’t heard from us.
MOMENT OF SILENCE
URSULA NASH
Really? You think Jonas and Anko have good survival instincts?
REGINA REX
Well, no but Serebella does. She has her shit together. I’m sure she’s cool as ice.
URSULA NASH
Let’s hope so.

REGINA REX

REGINA REX

ASTRID
