NARRATOR
During the last episode of VOID the severity of events escalated on Titan between Jonas, Anko and Serebella. Serebella in turn took things a bit too far. Back on the Ching She, it was discovered that Gideon tampered with Astrid and laid a trap for the crew.
SOUND: MEDICAL EQUIPMENT BEEPING, BODY STIRRING
INT. HABITAT - TITAN - DAY
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(stirring up into being conscious, weakly)
Oh man, this headache really sucks.
SEREBELLA REON
Jonas!
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS RUNNING
SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)
Hey buddy, how are you feeling?
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Like shit, but I’m awake.
SOUND: JONAS TRYING TO SIT UP
SEREBELLA REON
Maybe you shouldn’t...
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Oh no, I’m going to be sick!
SOUND: STUMBLING FALLING, PICKING UP CONTAINER, VOMITING
JONAS ALDRIDGE (CONT'D)
AGHHH!!!
SEREBELLA REON
Oh wow, that’s gross.
ANKO LUMEN
Really? You’re squeamish?
SEREBELLA REON
Blood no, vomit yes.
SOUND: JONAS FINISHES HEAVING, SLUMPS DOWN ON THE FLOOR
SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)
Let me help...
JONAS ALDRIDGE
No, no! Just stay there please, I just want to catch...What the hell? Why does my jaw hurt so much?
ANKO LUMEN
Because you were clenching your jaw so hard.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
And why would I have been clenching my jaw like that?
PAUSE A BEAT
SEREBELLA REON
Uh, that was kind of my fault. I’m afraid I may have over-shocked you a little.
ANKO LUMEN
A little? You killed him.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(flinching from the jaw pain)
You KILLED me? *Ouch*
SEREBELLA REON
Only for like a minute I swear! I’m really, really sorry Jonas! I never wanted it to go that far, I just, kind of...
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(finishing her sentence)
Lost control. I felt that way too when I was fighting Anko. I almost crushed his skull out there.
ANKO LUMEN
Pffftt! You wish, I was clearly the victor.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Not on your best day Anko.
ANKO LUMEN
Regardless, I was the one who saved your life and brought you back from the abyss.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Oh no. That’s not actuallytrue is it?
SEREBELLA REON
I’m afraid so. Again, I’m really sorry.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(having difficulty saying it)
It’s ok. I’m not dead, thanks to, thanks to Anko.
ANKO LUMEN
You’re welcome. And don’t worry, I’ll frequently remind you of it in case you forget.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
I’m sure you will. I don’t suppose there’s any word from the Ching She?
SEREBELLA REON
(getting upset, feeling tense from detoxing)
I’m afraid not. I don’t know what to do.
ANKO LUMEN
We should start creating an inventory and decide how we’re going to ration supplies.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Holy shit Anko, you’re really helpful when you’re not focused on yourself for a change.
ANKO LUMEN
Thanks? And I’m worried about my own survival here.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Ok.
SEREBELLA REON
(calming down)
That’s a great plan Anko. Why don’t you and I get started after we help Jonas back into bed so he can get some rest.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HELPING JONAS UP
ANKO LUMEN
Sure, allow me to help you Jonas.
JONAS ALDRIDGE

SOUND: TRANSITION, GUNFIRE, SHOTS HITTING WALL
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT
ASTRID
Defense, defense, defense, def, def, def, defense prooootttoocallll initiated.
SOUND: GUNFIRE CONTINUED
REGINA REX
(from behind cover) ASTRID!! STAND DOWN!!
ASTRID
Pppprrrootooocall, protocal initiated.
REGINA REX
Ursula, we need to get to the control panel on that wall. We can do a hard reboot and shut down the AI.
URSULA NASH
That’s a great plan but that’s also the wall Astrid seems to be protecting so what do you propose?
REGINA REX
I can jump out and draw fire to keep the guns off you long enough so you can get in under them. They can’t shoot straight down.
URSULA NASH
Won’t you get shot doing that?
REGINA REX
Not if I can jump from cover to cover using the bridge seats.
URSULA NASH
Are you sure you don’t want me to draw the guns instead?
REGINA REX
Then we lose our medical officer, no way.
URSULA NASH
And if we lose you no-one else can pilot the ship! Look, out of the 2 of us, I’m the most expendable.
Here, just take my med kit and stand by in case I get hit. Be ready to use this if I’m unconscious.
SOUND: MEDKIT BEING OPENED, ITEM BEING HANDED TO REGINA
URSULA NASH (CONT'D)
And in case I get shot, use this compression bandage. All you do is put this next to the wound and press that button.
REGINA REX
You’re going to start from that chair on the left, stop at the second one and then continue to that chair on the right.
URSULA NASH
Ok.
REGINA REX
Run like hell, the guns are fast. When you’re on the way to the second chair, I’ll bolt straight to the side there. Stay as low as you can. Got it?
URSULA NASH
Got it. Ready? Ready.

REGINA REX (CONT'D)
(leaning out smacking her hands together)

SOUND: GUNFIRE, FOOTSTEPS STOP
REGINA REX (CONT'D)

URSULA NASH
(from 1st position) Good so far!
REGINA REX
Ok here we go. Second chair now!
SOUND: MULTIPLE FOOTSTEPS RUNNING, GUNS TRACKING
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
(leaning out smacking her hands together)

SOUND: GUNFIRE, REGINA GETTING SHOT, FOOTSTEPS STOP
REGINA REX (CONT'D)

SOUND: BODY DUCKING BACK, SLUMPING DOWN
URSULA NASH
Regina! Hey! Are you ok??
REGINA REX
(from behind cover, hurt, forcing herself through the pain)
I’m fine! Keep going! Last seat, then I open the panel. Now!
SOUND: MULITPLE FOOTSTEPS, GUN TRACKING, FIRING TOWARDS URSULA, FOOTSTEPS STOP, PANEL BEING RIPPED OFF THE WALL, INTERACTION WITH BUTTONS AND LEVERS, KEYPAD
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
(gritting her teeth through pain)
Astrid! Power down!
ASTRID
Nnnneeggative. Unable to ppppoweeerr ddd ddddddd dddddownn due to ppprotoc.......
SOUND: AI POWERING DOWN, GUNS RETRACTING
REGINA REX
(letting out a heavy sigh) We’re clear, great running.
SOUND: FOOSTEPS, MEDKIT OPENING, VARIOUS TREATMENTS BEING ADMINISTERED
URSULA NASH
Hey, I was the one that was supposed to get shot, remember?
REGINA REX
And let you have all the heroic bragging rights? I don’t think so.
SOUND: TRANSITION, ITEMS BEING MOVED AROUND, BOXES OPENING AND CLOSING, FOOTSTEPS
INT. HABITAT - TITAN - DAY
ANKO LUMEN
I’m just about to finish our nutrient count. How’s it going with oxygen?
SEREBELLA REON
(from across the room, sounding apprehensive)
Yeah, wrapping up here too.
ANKO LUMEN
It doesn’t look that bad. The nutrients can be spread over at least another few months. If we ration the food too, with our body mods, we’ve got 4 months easily.
SEREBELLA REON
(distracted) Uh huh, yeah.
ANKO LUMEN
Luckily with the hydrators we’ll have water as long as we have power. And with a day here on Titan being 16 Earth days long, we’ve got plenty of solar to tap into to set up reserve power from.
SEREBELLA REON
(trailing off) MMmmhmmm...
ANKO LUMEN
(finishing his count)
Dammit, I hate when Jonas is right.
SEREBELLA REON
Yeah, me too.
ANKO LUMEN
Are you even listening to me? I just admitted Jonas was right about something.
SEREBELLA REON
What? Oh. Right about what?
ANKO LUMEN
He was right that we have to cut down on my machine usage so we can keep power in reserve. Were you even paying attention?
SEREBELLA REON
Yes, no.
ANKO LUMEN
Shouldn’t you be happy that it looks like we’ve got at least a few months before our fate is decided? At least we can work on trying to contact the Ching She. I’m actually optimistic and you’re not even reacting.
PAUSE A BEAT
ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)
Serebella? What’s wrong?
MORE SILENCE
ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)
(reluctantly)
Serebella, what is the oxygen count like? How much time do we have?
SEREBELLA REON
3 days.
SOUND: TRANSITION, KEYPAD, VARIOUS PIECES OF EQUIPMENT BEING USED
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY
URSULA NASH
(finishing something)
And I think that’s it. Try it now Captain.
SOUND: KEYPAD, MACHINE RE-BOOTING
REGINA REX
Astrid, AI system status.
PAUSE A BEAT
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Astrid, AI system status.
ASTRID
All systems running at optimum levels.
REGINA REX
(letting out a breath of relief)
Ok. Astrid, run full AI systems diagnostics.
ASTRID
Running AI system diagnostics now.
SOUND: SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS RUNNING
REGINA REX
I think we’ve restored everything he tampered with. He compromised so much of this ship. I never thought he had it in him to hurt the Ching She like this.
URSULA NASH
He was driven by whatever that contract is about for the 5.
REGINA REX
Yeah, I’ll need to figure that out. At least we have the ship back.
URSULA NASH
Finally! It’s been 28 hours!
REGINA REX
We had to go through everysystem and sub-system on this ship to reverse all the damage Gideon had done. He had some nasty surprises for us in there.
URSULA NASH
Like what?
REGINA REX
Like how our oxygen systems were set to overload and blow.
URSULA NASH
Yes, I see. That would be bad. I’m sorry if I’m on edge. I just want to get back to Titan.
REGINA REX
Now that we have our systems back, we can find out just where we are and how to get back to them. Give me a second to get the nav systems back up.
SOUND: KEYPAD, SYSTEMS BOOTING
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
What happens to the body specifically when we run out of oxygen?
URSULA NASH
You suffocate and die.
REGINA REX
I know that. I mean how does it effect you physically?
URSULA NASH
If it’s instant like being shot out of an airlock, you’ll black out in about 15 seconds, then you’ll lose vision, you’ll convulse and then your skin would turn blue. Oh and your blood pressure will fail which can cause your blood to literally boil before you finish suffocating.
REGINA REX
Oh, guess I would hold my breath then.
URSULA NASH
Which would cause your lungs to rupture anyway.
REGINA REX
So I’m dead in an instant.
URSULA NASH
In a matter of 90 seconds or so once the air is completely gone, yes.
REGINA REX
It’s amazingly fast that way.
URSULA NASH
If it’s more of a slow leak situation, your whole body would slow down everything it’s doing. Your blood would pump more slowly sending less and less oxygen to your brain. You would continue to weaken as the air finishes until you pass out and then the rest happens.
SOUND: SYSTEM COMING BACK ONLINE
REGINA REX
Hot damn we’re back! Let’s see where the hell we are.
SOUND: KEYPAD
Oh wow.
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
URSULA NASH
Oh wow, what?
SOUND: SCREEN SWIPING
REGINA REX
We’re over here. Titan’s over here.
URSULA NASH
That looks pretty far away.
REGINA REX
It is, Gideon had us hauling ass for awhile.
URSULA NASH
How long will it take us to get back?
REGINA REX
At 75% power, it will at take us about 23 hours to get back. We’ll shorten that once Gilban gets us back up to full power.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HATCH
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
In the meantime I need you on comms to try to start reaching the habitat on Titan. We’ll be back in comm range in a little while.
SOUND: TRANSITION, RUSTLING ON BED

JONAS ALDRIDGE

SEREBELLA REON

ANKO LUMEN

Oh man, I feel so weak.
ANKO LUMEN
(speaking in a hushed tone)
We need to stop talking, now Jonas. We’re running out of oxygen and we’re adding more CO2 to the air.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
(settling back down, hushed tone)
Oh. Sorry. How much time?
ANKO LUMEN
We had 3 days when we figured it out. That was 46 hours ago.
JONAS ALDRIDGE
Ching She? Nothing.
SEREBELLA REON JONAS ALDRIDGE
What can we do?
SEREBELLA REON

URSULA NASH

Why is no-one responding? I thought you said we’re back in range.
REGINA REX
We are. Our broadcast signal strength may not be back up all the way yet.
URSULA NASH
I just wish we’d hear something.
REGINA REX
Keep trying. They may be working outside.
