INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - NIGHT

URSULA NASH

(working on Regina’s back) Stay perfectly still Regina. I’m at a delicate juncture.


REGINA REX

Doing my best. Now I’m nervous. Maybe you shouldn’t have said “delicate juncture”.


URSULA NASH

Sorry. Don’t move.

SOUND: MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS / EQUIPMENT CONTINUED

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

There’s a lot of nerve damage here Regina. If we were back on the station, this wouldn’t be a problem...

REGINA REX

(interrupting)

But we’re not so do whatever you can.


SOUND: INSTRUMENTS CONT.

URSULA NASH

(working through procedure)

I am. Luckily we’ll be going into cryo; being immobilized for 7 months will help.


REGINA REX

Do you think the damage will heal?

URSULA NASH

It should but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to walk. We’ll only find out once we get done in stasis. Nerve damage is unpredictable.


REGINA REX

What about the breaks?

URSULA NASH

They’re no problem. The nanites are working to mend them now.


REGINA REX

(frustrated)

Great. Captaining a ship with a broken back is not a challenge I’ve wanted.


URSULA NASH

You’ll need to rely on us more.

REGINA REX

That means Captain Aldridge will need to step it up to fill in the gaps with the command. Between you and me, do you think he’s ok to handle it?


PAUSE A BEAT

URSULA NASH

(contemplating)

If you asked me that a couple of weeks ago I would’ve said no. But lately, he seems to be more even tempered and less of an asshole. He’s always been smart and had a reasonable head on his shoulders.


REGINA REX

Your breakup really threw him for a loop.


URSULA NASH

Both of us, it’s been awful. It’s better now but yeah, it’s rough.


REGINA REX

How’s that going?

URSULA NASH

It’s nice of you to ask.

REGINA REX

Just trying to keep my mind off of what you’re doing back there.


URSULA NASH

Well then you’ll be happy to hear I’m just finishing up... Now.


SOUND: MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS AND MACHINES WINDING DOWN

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

There! I’ve got you about as patched up as I can for the moment. We have to give the nanites time and then we’ll do more scans to see how you’re healing.


REGINA REX

How long do I have to keep laying like this?


URSULA NASH

A couple more hours and we’ll be able to move you.


REGINA REX

That sucks. Can you let Serebella know...

SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

SEREBELLA REON

(walking in) Babe!


SOUND: LEANING DOWN, GENTLE EXCHANGE

REGINA REX

(wiped out from surgery) Hey you.


URSULA NASH

Serebella, why is your gun out?

SOUND: HOLSTERING WEAPON

REGINA REX

What happened?

SEREBELLA REON

Our guest is missing.

URSULA NASH

What guest?

REGINA REX

Serebella, talk to me.

SEREBELLA REON

I went to confinement and found the grid disabled.


URSULA NASH

Who was in there? What’s going on? Did you put Gilban in confinement?


REGINA REX

Serebella, you need to hunt down Maddox.



I will.

SEREBELLA REON


REGINA REX

But don’t go alone.

SEREBELLA REON

I can handle myself.

REGINA REX

I know, I just... I don’t want to take any more chances. Take Terry with you. Just keep an eye on him.

REGINA REX

Do what you need to do to protect this ship.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HATCH

URSULA NASH

Regina, tell me...

REGINA REX

(interrupting)

Gilban’s gone Ursula. He’s gone.


SOUND: TRANSITION, FOOTSTEPS, HUM FROM ARTIFACT LOW AND THEN GROWING LOUDER AS FOOTSTEPS COMMENCE COMING CLOSE AND THEN GOING AWAY


INT. CHING SHE CORRIDOR - NIGHT

ANKO LUMEN

(walking toward Maddox) Hey, who are you? What are you doing with that?


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS RUNNING AWAY

ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)

Get back here!

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS TRIPPING, FALLING TO THE FLOOR

ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)

(hitting the floor) Oooof!!

SOUND: FOOSTEPS MOVING DOWN CORRIDOR, HUM VOLUME DIMINISHING ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)

Damn it, that’s not good.

SOUND: TRANSITION


INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT

PAT MENDELSON

If the captain is out of commission, that would probably put Jonas in charge.

TERRY MENDELSON

That guy’s all over the place. He shouldn’t be a problem to dig into.


PAT MENDELSON

Good. With her security code, we need to tinker with the AI. There’s a lot about this ship we don’t know. The logs are what concerns me, there might be records of access to the AI.


TERRY MENDELSON

I really need a weapon. If things go sideways we’ll need a contingency plan if we get caught.


SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

SEREBELLA REON

(walking in)

Terry, I need your help. Here.

SOUND: PASSING TERRY A GUN

TERRY MENDELSON

That was easy.

SEREBELLA REON

TERRY MENDELSON

(stumbling)

Uh, I mean it was easy for me to uh, to see, uh...


PAT MENDELSON

TERRY MENDELSON

That’s right. That’s exactly what I meant to say.


SEREBELLA REON

TERRY MENDELSON

ANKO LUMEN

Hey, I just ran into someone in the corridor carrying Gilban’s artifact!


SEREBELLA REON

That was Maddox Kane.

ANKO LUMEN

SEREBELLA REON

Not now, which direction?

ANKO LUMEN

Walking toward the back of the ship in corridor 1B.


SEREBELLA REON

You can help us. Terry, give the gun to...


ANKO LUMEN

(interrupting)

I’m not really a gun guy Serebella.

SEREBELLA REON

Fine, you’re backup in case we need your help. Take my shock stick.


ANKO LUMEN

(reluctant)

Ok, sure. But I’m staying behind you.


SEREBELLA REON

That’s the plan. Terry, make sure the gun stays on stun. Nothing lethal.

TERRY MENDELSON


SEREBELLA REON

Pat, I’m going to need you here to watch the cameras and be our eyes.


PAT MENDELSON

I don’t think I have access to that.

SEREBELLA REON

I’ll unlock it for you. Astrid, change security status for Pat Mendelson and Terry Mendelson. Authorization Security Officer Serebella Reon.


ASTRID

That command requires security confirmation.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, KEYPAD

ASTRID (CONT'D)

SEREBELLA REON

ASTRID

ASTRID (CONT'D)

SEREBELLA REON

Congratulations, you both have been promoted. You can use the cameras over here Pat.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, BUTTONS, KEYPAD, SCREENS MOVING AND TURNING ON


PAT MENDELSON

Wow, I can see so much of the ship.

SEREBELLA REON

You can switch between cameras using this keypad.

PAT MENDELSON

I guess I’m the almighty eye in the sky!


SEREBELLA REON

Right. We’ll use wrist comms for this. Let’s head back to where you last encountered Maddox Anko.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS


INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - NIGHT

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(walking in)

Hey captain, how are you doing?

REGINA REX

Like I just had back surgery. We have a problem. Maddox escaped.


JONAS ALDRIDGE

When?

REGINA REX

No idea, Serebella is looking now.

SEREBELLA REON

(over comms) Captain?


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, KEYPAD

URSULA NASH

We’re here Serebella.

SEREBELLA REON

Pat spotted Maddox on one of the cameras taking the artifact toward the back of the ship.


REGINA REX

Flush that damn thing out of the airlock. I want it off my ship.


JONAS ALDRIDGE

But we may not be able to get Gilban back without it!


REGINA REX

There’s another way. We could use the warp drive to reach Proxima Centauri. Serebella, do what has to be done.


SEREBELLA REON

Roger. Reon out.


SOUND: TRANSITION, FOOTSTEPS, ARTIFACT HUM QUIET GRADUALLY GETTING LOUDER

INT. CHING SHE DOCKING BAY - NIGHT

SEREBELLA REON

(whispering)

Shhh, stay quiet. Just up ahead in the docking bay.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HUM GETTING LOUDER

SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)

Terry, you’re with me but keep the weapon down. Anko, you stay here.


ANKO LUMEN

No problem.

SEREBELLA REON

No-one makes a move until I do. I’m going to talk first.


TERRY MENDELSON

Shouldn’t we just use our weapons?

SEREBELLA REON

I’m trying to avoid force if possible Terry. So chill and follow my lead.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HUM GETTING LOUDER CONT.

SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)

(walking slowly toward Gilban)

Hey Maddox. What are you doing out here with the shuttle?


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS SLOW, MOVING STRATEGICALLY, HUM RESONATES

MADDOX KANE

Look, I can’t stay here. I need to get back to my base. The parts from this shuttle...


SEREBELLA REON

Nobody is going to let you take parts from the shuttle I’m afraid.


MADDOX KANE

(getting upset)

You don’t understand! With these parts I could return your friend once I get back.

SEREBELLA REON

Once you get back? That’s not really comforting, what kind of guarantee can you offer?


MADDOX KANE

Well none, but you can trust me.

SEREBELLA REON

(moving toward Gilban)

Maddox look, we need to discuss this with everyone. The captain...


MADDOX KANE

Back off! I know what you’re doing! I don’t have any interest in playing these games.


SOUND: TERRY’S FOOTSTEPS MOVING TO THE SIDE OF MADDOX

SEREBELLA REON

I’m not doing anything. I’m just trying to talk you out of making a mistake.


MADDOX KANE

(moving around with the artifact)

I don’t need your help! I just need to, to...


SEREBELLA REON

Now Terry!


SOUND: GUNS DRAWN, MULTIPLE PULSES, BODY HITTING THE FLOOR, FOOTSTEPS


SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)

(moving in)

Anko! Bring in the gurney! Nice shot Terry.


TERRY MENDELSON

Thanks.

ANKO LUMEN

(moving in with gurney) Damn that thing is loud!


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, GURNEY

SEREBELLA REON

Anko, help me get Maddox back to medical. Terry, take the artifact and send it out the airlock.


TERRY MENDELSON

I don’t want to touch it!

SOUND: RUSTLING, MOVING MADDOX ONTO GURNEY

SEREBELLA REON

Then put it in that container! We need to get it out of here.


TERRY MENDELSON

(unhappy about this) Yeah, ok.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS MOVING WITH GURNEY

SEREBELLA REON

Anko, help me take Maddox to medical.


SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS, GURNEY


INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - NIGHT

REGINA REX

Holy shit, is there anyone else that could possibly be injured right now?


SEREBELLA REON

(walking in with gurney) Luckily no, went down without a fight.


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS/MACHINES

URSULA NASH

So this is the person you told me about.


REGINA REX

Until we know more about what’s going on, do you have something you can use that will keep Maddox asleep through cryo? We can’t hold back on continuing to Europa.

URSULA NASH

Yes captain, I have a sedative that will work.


REGINA REX

Good. And what about the artifact?

SEREBELLA REON

I had Terry take care of it. It should be long gone into space by now.


REGINA REX

Good. Ursula?

SOUND: KEYPAD, SHOTS ADMINISTERED

URSULA NASH

I’m administering the sedatives now. Maddox is out until we get to Jupiter.


REGINA REX

Alright then. Let’s go over it again.


JONAS ALDRIDGE

We went through this 4 times already Regina. I think we’re...


REGINA REX

(interrupting)

What we’re going to do is go through it one more time Jonas. This is the first time I’m not in charge of the cryo process on my ship. The last time we were sabotaged and now we have an invader. So deal with it.


URSULA NASH

It starts with me. I’ll be overseeing all of us going into stasis. Once I verify our coordinates one last time and I confirm that everyone is completely under, I go under.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

I come in as the redundancy fail safe. If there’s a problem with the ship, Astrid wakes me up and I decide what to do next. I’m also the first to be awakened when we reach Jupiter. At which time, I will verify our location and proceed to wake up the rest of the crew accordingly.


REGINA REX

Right. Let’s get the crew rounded up and ready for stasis.


SOUND: MOVEMENT, KEYPAD, MACHINES, PODS CLOSING


INT. CHING SHE CRYOSTASIS CHAMBER - MORNING

URSULA NASH

Ok, Captain Rex. I just sealed in both Mendelsons. Everyone else is in too.


REGINA REX

Good, make sure you verify that our prisoner’s pod is secured from the outside.


URSULA NASH

Yes captain.

REGINA REX

You’ve got it from here. See you on the other side.


URSULA NASH

Sleep tight Captain Rex.

SOUND: POD CLOSING, KEYPAD, CHECKING POD LATCHES, ALERT

ASTRID

Attention Dr. Nash. Text message received from Max Huxley, New Hope Space Station. Marked urgent.


URSULA NASH

Max! Astrid, open and read message, security key: Nash 3D 3R.


ASTRID

Confirming.

SOUND: CHIME

ASTRID (CONT'D)

Message follows: Ursula, I received the message about your parents. A lot has changed here. Things have become dangerous. I fear they’re watching me. Don’t send anymore messages until you hear from me again. Until then, I can’t say much, but I can tell you they’re alive.


PAUSE A BEAT


URSULA NASH

My parents, are alive? I can’t believe it! I didn’t imagine...Jonas! Did you...


SOUND: SINGLE BEEP FROM MACHINERY

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

(shaken, confused, happy?) Oh, right. It looks like everyone is asleep. I guess we’ll have to catch up at Jupiter.


SOUND: KEYPAD, FOOTSTEPS, SETTLING INTO POD

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

(shaken but composing herself for the task at hand, crying a little)

Ok, well, I uh...Astrid, begin cryostasis, low power and auto pilot sequences.


ASTRID

Affirmative Dr. Nash. Starting cryostasis sequence. Sealing pods now.


SOUND: PODS SEALING SHUT

ASTRID (CONT'D)

Monitoring systems online.

SOUND: SYSTEMS STARTING

ASTRID (CONT'D)

Administering nitrous oxide isoflurane vaporizer.

SOUND: GAS BEING EMITTED

ASTRID (CONT'D)

Low power mode commencing.

SOUND: SHIP LOWERING POWER

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Bingo! We got it right this time. I can’t wait to see it. Astrid, awaken...


PAUSE A BEAT

ASTRID

Awaiting instruction.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(contemplating)

Astrid, cancel instruction. I’m taking a moment for myself. After I use the rest room!

JONAS ALDRIDGE (CONT'D)

Wow, we’re really here. Astrid, where does Europa get it’s name?


ASTRID

Europa is named for a woman who, in Greek mythology, was abducted by the god Zeus – named Jupiter in Roman mythology. Also known as the Ocean Moon.


JONAS ALDRIDGE

(sipping coffee)

That’s what I thought. Astrid... What the hell?


SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, KEYPAD, JOYSTICK MOVING, CAMERA SHUTTER

JONAS ALDRIDGE (CONT'D)

ASTRID
