Hey guys, welcome to Coffee with a Twist. You're here with Madame Baloo. Hope everyone has had a good week weekend, looking forward to their weekend. I'm actually out taking a walk, so excuse my breathing, I'm trying my hardest to hold it in is my um second walk of the day. I've been trying to uh take a walk after I eat, things like that. So I had lunch, let it digest a little and then take a little walk before um my son gets home. So I figured why not put out an episode, right? All right, so I know it's been a while. I hope everyone is um still looking at their vision boards.
Speaker 1:The first quarter of 2024 is over so hopefully you may have been able to check possibly one thing off the box, off the list. I mean so, if you have it, not a big deal. You still have time. You still got the rest of the year. But you know, if you got nothing checked off, try to maybe do bite sizes in the sense of like to make yourself more accountable. Maybe try doing once a month, taking a look at that, and try to accomplish what you can in like one month, one thing off the list for that 30 days and see if that helps you. Me personally. I was using, you know, three months quarters and I'm proud to say I got a good bit of stuff accomplished my first quarter and was actually able to set things up for the second quarter to help me be able to complete some other things on my checklist. So do what you can. You know, I'm just kind of your reminder.
Speaker 1:As you see, one of my things was, um, walking more, exercising more. So you guys are right now my proof from the way I'm breathing and out here walking, um, I'm trying, um at, I'm trying. I'm walking about five days a week. Haven't done so much on weekends, like I'll do Saturday, maybe not Sunday, things like that and I'm hoping this summer I can get my son to walk with me a little bit. I know he won't be able to do the full walk that I do, but even a part of it a couple of times a day with him, because when summer comes he'll be home and I know I have to find like a different regimen to do that incorporates him, especially during the day. I'm going to have to figure some ways to discipline myself to walk or exercise in the evenings, even at home or at the gym or something, once my husband gets home. So I still got about five to six weeks before I have to think about that, but it's coming up so soon I'll have to discipline myself in a different way for exercising anyway.
Speaker 1:Alright, so I've been drinking coffee, of course, but lately I've been drinking the mushroom coffee and to me it's rather good. Don't get me wrong. Some brands are not that good. Before I even go into any detail with it, I'm not sponsoring anything. I'm not being paid to sponsor. I'm not being paid to critique anything. I'm just getting here giving y'all an opinion.
Speaker 1:So I use the Everyday Dose coffee, and it was actually referred to me by a co-worker of mine. She said she's tried others. I've tried others as well and they're just not good. Everyday dose to me. It may not smell like coffee because it does not meaning like out of the package, but it definitely tastes like coffee and depending how you like your coffee, it actually tastes a tad better than coffee. It just depends what you're looking for.
Speaker 1:But you can make it the same way you'll make your normal coffee. Only difference is you don't have to brew it. You make hot water or cold water, sorry guys. Cold water, sorry guys. And you mix it up, um, and you know, take a scoop and put it, you know, put it in your cup or whatever, with the water, however many ounces, you know you're choosing typically between 8 and 12, is, you know, so it's not so diluted, meaning the coffee between 8 and 12 ounces and you could ice it. You put your creams, your sugars, whatever specialties you like in it, your honey, uh, squirts of syrup, whatever. It's actually very good.
Speaker 1:Um, mushroom coffee is actually a coffee that I can drink, black, and, as you guys know, I can't drink black coffee, even though I've tried and I strive to drink black coffee so that I'm not putting too much crap in it. But I'm a basic coffee girl, like, all I need is half and half creamer and, um, I take two to three packets of the sugar in the raw, the brown sugar. So I'm pretty basic. I used to need the creamers that had the flavor and all that and they're so high in sugar and all that, but luckily I've gotten away from that completely. I do supply it to people that come to my house. They like that. That's a choice, but you know I do have their needs there, but me I'm pretty basic, but it's really good.
Speaker 1:It has like it has no nuts in it, but to me it has like a nutty flavoring to it, not like hazelnut or anything like that, but something, and it's extremely good. So I give you that long story to tell you. Try it out. If you are looking at it, I can only vouch for everyday dough. As far as tasting good Tasting the most like coffee A lot of the other brands they may be good.
Speaker 1:That's why there are so many brands. You may like them, but to me a few of them taste like vomit Best way to put it and it's very expensive stuff. So that's why I'm giving my opinion. It's not like it's cheap. So I hate for you to buy a cheap one or buy it. You can only drink one cup because of the taste. And again, you might try everyday dose and don't like that either. So that is fine. Just giving you guys my opinion and letting you guys know what I've been up to.
Speaker 1:So, um, I drink that coffee typically, um, in the evenings because, as you guys know, I like to drink a lot of coffee. So I've been trying to narrow it down to one cup cup of regular coffee a day and then at night, when I want something, I do the mushroom coffee because it doesn't have all the caffeine and all that. And, for anyone that's like, why is she talking about mushroom coffee? It has a lot of good benefits in it, a lot of superfoods and things like that in it that are good for you. Collagen, biotin is helps, um, clarity of your brain, your mind, your energy levels, things like that. It has a good bit of benefits in it. So, um, definitely look it up, even if you've never heard of it before. I guess I'm your sign to look it up again.
Speaker 1:Not everything is for everyone, but figured, I would share that with you, since this is coffee with a twist. Um, but yeah, give it a shot. Maybe, I'm not sure, maybe you can get like like a sample or something from whoever you get it from. Rather, if it's everyday dose or whoever you want to try, whatever brand you want to try, it may be worth getting a little sample packet or two and testing it out because it's it's definitely good. Yeah, so that's been kind of my regimen, so I've been pretty good.
Speaker 1:Besides today, and I think Saturday or Sunday or Saturday, I ended up having two cups of regular coffee today this morning because it was just so good. And then Sunday, I believe it was I had two cups of coffee, of regular coffee. So again, the reason why I said it's a problem, because, as you guys know, I can drink about four and five cups a day regular coffee. I really want to cut that completely because, even though I don't put so much crap in it, still, you know, think about if I do two to three, um packets of sugar with my coffee, and that's just with coffee, and I'm having three cups a day or so. You're already looking at about nine packets of sugar that I'm putting in my body. You know, I mean not even including the creamer, not including the foods I so that's what I'm looking at. So my goal is no more than two, two in the sense of morning, my regular coffee and then, if I do want an evening something, it would be the mushroom coffee.
Speaker 1:The other thing I'm doing is trying to drink more tea. I've heard a lot of good things about Yerda Mate tea and I do have it at the house, so I'm trying to get back into teas as well. I used to only be a tea drinker, um, working in the workforce, especially more of the office setting, that's what got me into coffee, um, more for the social of it. Um, even though, yes, don't get wrong, when you go to a coffee shop you can order tea. Yes, you can, I know that, but, like you know, you'll have a cold. Hey, you don't like coffee, try this. You know stuff like that. It was recommendation and I actually did like certain things and it just started opening the door and that's how I became loving coffee and tea kind of went to the wayside. So, um, I am trying to get back on my teas where, um, I can drink tea, maybe at night, before bed, things like that because it's teas are very good for you, very beneficial, I have a lot of great things in them. So that's another route.
Speaker 1:I'm trying to go again, just trying to make um better choices and stuff, um, even with the way I eat, just the timing that I eat, things like that, just trying to be better. Um, you know, as we're getting older and things, you gotta really be more mindful and take care of yourself. So I say that that's part of my vision board and that is something as a habit. I want it to be for pretty much the rest of my life. So every day will probably be a struggle, um, because you know for however many years I've been doing what I do, not that I'm really a bad eater or bad this or that, but as I'm getting older, I've noticed my metabolism has changed. Um, I used to be able to like how I'm walking. Now, the younger, younger me, I could walk like this once a day or whatever, and I see the results, meaning myself seeing those results within 30 day time. Now I can walk like this for a year and see nothing. So it's just one of those things, it's just how it is. So, just trying to be better and and stick with it, even because I think that's the biggest problem with anything, it doesn't even have to be what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:As far as exercise, the problem with us as humans, when you don't see the progress, it doesn't motivate you to keep going. So you have to find a motivator. So that is why I'm on here talking to you guys, because I'm sure your vision board is sitting there, I'm sure you are putting things in motion to do it, but you might not see any progress. That is fine. Some progress is unseen, it just is, but it's still happening. And when the, when the time comes, you're prepared for whatever that outcome is because you've been doing the little things to where you could see the big progress. So, to where you could see the big progress.
Speaker 1:So it's hard I get out, I walk, I eat, right, I do this and that, and I'm like, oh my God, nothing, the scale hasn't moved. Or the scale moves, but not in my favor, things like that, and it makes you just want to be like, well, why am I trying? Why am I going to continue doing this when it's not doing anything, it's not helping. I know you just got to find something that keeps you motivated, to keep you doing it. Honestly, that's the best advice I can give you. Even though you don't see it, still do it, especially if you know that it's good for you, if you know walking every day is good for you. Your doctor said walking every day is good for you. Your doctor said walking every day is good for you, you feel at least. You feel better. You might not see the results as far as the scale, but you feel better. Your joints feel good. Well, guess what? Keep doing it. That's still a form of progress. So don't give up. I'm just here to motivate you. I want to continue motivating you because, trust me, I need that same motivation. Trust me.
Speaker 1:When I was doing all these training, certs and stuff from January to March for the first quarter for my 2024 goals, it was hard to march for the first quarter for my 2024 goals, it was hard. You know, I took a class, I'm not even kidding, I took a class that was in the middle of the night. I had to be up at 3 o'clock in the morning, 3, 3.30, to get situated, to be out of class at 4, 4 am, Online, luckily, but still I was teaching in India time. So I did that and I had to do it for two or three weekends, straight from on Saturday and Sunday to get a certificate I wanted to work on. So you do what you got to do. I mean, that worked for me because I was doing it from four to 12. And that was good for me because Eli was asleep for most of the class.
Speaker 1:Secondly, my house was quiet. I didn't have to really worry about anything to like the nine o'clock hour in my house and that was easier to get through than trying to get through 10 hours of my house just being loud, and it allowed me to um focus and then, when they got up for the day. You know, once I got off of class, I still had my day, but I had to give up three weekends to do that, and that's you got to push yourself sometimes. So I'm not just on here saying to do it or telling you to do it. I'm doing it too and I know how hard it can be. So we got to push ourselves. It's 2024. You don't want to look back on 2025 or 2026 and like, man, if I would have started this or done this two years ago, three years ago, a year ago, starting now, look, that's what those vision boards are for. Get yourself realigned. You know, let's go forward.
Speaker 1:Forward is the word I actually have more to talk about, the word forward. I think I'm going to do a second episode that bounces off of this one, because I want to talk about the word forward and what forward means and what forward looks like, and give you guys some examples of what forward doesn't look like. Forward is a strong thing. Forward is strong. You have to have the forward. If you don't move forward, you may not realize it, but it holds your whole life up. It could hold up so many things without you even realizing it. So you have to come to that realization that forward is key.
Speaker 1:Just because something happens, don't linger on to it Just like an ex. Sometimes they're an ex for a reason, and if you keep including them in your life every day, as part of your life, talk to them every day, text them every day like the normal stuff, how is that moving forward? How is that? How is that doing anything? How is that helping you? Because you may not feel it, but technically, mentally, you are doing the same things that you were probably doing when y'all were together, minus a few things. So why continue to do the things as if you're together? If you're really not, they're an ex. There's no reason to talk to them every day. There's no reason to talk to them once a week. There's no reason for them to be a part of your life. Yeah, I get every once in a while, every blue moon once a year maybe Might be a check-in or something like that. That's fine. But when you start having that person be a part of your daily routine, where it's like, oh man, some just didn't call me today. Why does it matter? They're your ex.
Speaker 1:Things that are in the past are the past. It's like when you get a job, your job fires you or you leave the job. Are you constantly going back to that job? No, if you're in the area, if y'all left on good terms and you're in the area, like, for instance, I left a job good terms overall in my opinion, but when I'm in that area I will stop it. Hey, how's it going? Maybe once every shoot, who knows? A year, two years, it's nothing. They're not part of my daily or weekly or monthly anything. It's over.
Speaker 1:So we got to know that word forward and I think that's a lot of our problems. We want to deal with the comfort of things and we get it, but you don't realize how those things not moving forward can hinder many things. I even learned that even with relationships, dating, things like that, even I was talking to a person that we were nothing. We knew that, he knew it, I knew it. Hey, ask the question if it's ever going to be more for us. No, cool, no problem, cool, no problem. Wasn't upset about it, but I knew for me to move forward or to find someone, when I'm ready to date and be with someone, I would be blocking any blessing, any male, any relationship that would come my way, even the potential of it, because I would be almost, I would be kind of in a sense, dating both in a sense.
Speaker 1:And you can't do that. It shows. You might not think it shows, but it shows. When you're not all in or you're not even trying to give that person time of day because you're still used to the old stuff. No, hey look, I'm at a point where I want to be more with someone maybe not you, and we're not going to work on that. So cool, no problem.
Speaker 1:But I gotta move forward, forward. So that means sometimes, just like when you give up a friend I won't nearly say give up a friend, because, but you know, you might scale back on some of your friends. Let's say you're trying to do certain things and you have a particular friend that unfortunately wants to just party all the time. But you're trying to get your PhD and you know, when you do deal with them it sets you back because you're partying, not studying. Sometimes you got to take a little step back or step away from them. Doesn't mean you don't love them, don't mean that you don't want to be friends with them. It's just right now time you are in your life, you're trying to grow forward. So forward is the word that you want Forward, moving forward.
Speaker 1:So I will end it there. I will make another episode or something on this and hopefully my goal is to make things tie in and things like that. But yes, I hope I was your motivation today. If you haven't got started to get started, and if you have got started, keep going, keep going forward. All right, I'm going to end it there. Thank you for letting me walk with you all. You are here with Madam Baloo, coffee with a Twist. Until next time.
