What if a simple act of kindness could transform your holiday season? Join me, Brad Weisman, as I bring my family into the spotlight for a Christmas special filled with heartwarming stories and inspiring tales of community service. From snorkeling adventures with sea turtles in St. Thomas to my daughter Catherine's stage performances as Matilda and soon JoJo in Seussical, we share cherished memories that made our year truly unforgettable. Together, we reflect on our volunteer efforts at Opportunity House, serving meals to the homeless, and highlight the joy of giving through traditions like the Giving Tree at church and supporting Toys for Tots. Our story of buying cheeseburgers for homeless individuals and Carson's school's generous donation to Helping Harvest emphasize the spirit of generosity that defines our holiday celebrations.

As we gather around to share laughter and love, we also talk about our family's holiday traditions and wishes. From baking cookies to enjoying school band and chorus performances, this episode is a melting pot of joy, anticipation, and hope for the future. We can't help but look forward to possible trips to Disney and exciting birthdays on the horizon. With Grampe's hopeful sentiment in our hearts, we extend warm holiday well wishes to all, embracing the blessings of the present and looking forward to a joyful New Year. Tune in for a heartfelt celebration of family and the true spirit of the season.

I don't know about that, but no, this is our christmas special show and you can probably see that because, you see, I have this really nice looking jacket on right now that everybody hates. But I just wanted to say Merry Christmas. It's Christmas Eve and for Christmas Eve I brought in my family. Hi, family.

Speaker 3:

Hi Merry Christmas.

Speaker 2:

Catherine, you can say hello, hello. Okay, there we go. No, so we thought we'd bring you guys back in. It's by popular demand that you come back in, because there is several people. I know one that actually said it right away was our neighbor, georgie. She said you got to have the kids on more often and she didn't see us setting up though. So you know it's a little rough. When we set up, there was a couple of people who said that but thanks for being on the show, guys. Yep, there was a couple of people who said that but thanks for being on the show, guys. Yep, yep, you guys are so quiet, hugo, they're so quiet. I know Were they quiet before we started recording. They got it lined up now. Yeah, exactly, so, no, so I want to first say how was your year? Did you have a good year?

Speaker 3:

We had a good year.

Speaker 2:

Went quick, went quick, mm Okay, so what did you do? That was fun this year, anything fun.

Speaker 1:

Universal.

Speaker 2:

Universal. Catherine, do you have a voice or not?

Speaker 1:

We went to St Thomas and that was really fun.

Speaker 2:

St Thomas.

Speaker 1:

And we snorkeled.

Speaker 2:

And you snorkeled. That's right. What did you see when you snorkeled?

Speaker 1:

Sea turtles.

Speaker 2:

Wow, sea turtles Awesome.

Speaker 1:

And you, Catherine, you had your play.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there you go. Yep, catherine, you can talk. You can talk. Yes, I did. Okay, tell me about the show you were in. I was in Matilda, what part?

Speaker 1:

did you play?

Speaker 2:

Matilda, matilda, how'd that go it? Was good, okay, so think about this this is the only show you've ever been on, or no? Yeah, and so did you like the experience? Oh my God, they can't hear you nod your head. I don't like when I keep going. Oh, you have to. That's how you're going to hear it. Jess, do you talk more than them? I don't know, but no, so, okay, so you did the universal thing. What was your favorite part, though, of St Thomas?

Speaker 1:

Going on the boat.

Speaker 2:

On the boat.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, when we were had that meal, meal.

Speaker 2:

Oh, the meal. We did have a really good meal, Jess. What do you think about the meal? Was the meal good? Oh, the meal was good yeah, the meal and the boat.

Speaker 1:

The shrimp was really good.

Speaker 2:

The shrimp were good.

Speaker 3:

I was laughing because the snorkeling was the experience and he remembers the meal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that is pretty funny.

Speaker 3:

It was impressive he takes after his father the meal there.

Speaker 2:

So the meal was really good. By the way, that was excellent. We had a really good meal. Let's go back to Catherine. You did the show last year. Okay, it was Matilda. Okay, did. Well, did you audition for another show this year? Got to come up to the microphone.

Speaker 1:

Like at school. Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so tell me about that.

Speaker 1:

We're doing Seussical, seussical.

Speaker 2:

Seussical, seussical, seussical. The musical, yes, okay, tell me something about that. It's obviously Dr Seuss.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and what part did you get?

Speaker 1:

JoJo.

Speaker 2:

JoJo and then, yeah, and JoJo, is that a good part? What is that? That's?

Speaker 1:

like one of the main roles.

Speaker 2:

Okay, cool yeah, you excited, yeah, very cool yeah, you excited, yeah, very cool, I'm excited Are you excited?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we don't know much about the show.

Speaker 2:

We don't know anything about the show.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we started rehearsal after.

Speaker 3:

It's so weird but contrary to what we're seeing right now with her being so shy and quiet she really actually found a love for being on stage this year?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she did, and it was really good, very good For somebody that was never in a show before. Just, you know, not just saying it because you're my kid or our kid, it's just you were very good at it and it was a good show. So I'm looking forward to season two, seeing Seussical, the musical, and that's at Wilson Southern, right, yes, yeah, okay, wilson Southern. Do you know the dates? No, some point That'd be good to know. All right, so let's talk about gratitude. All right, let's talk about that, because I mean, we just got past Thanksgiving. Uh, we're now at Christmas, and a lot of times at the end of the year, what we try to do is think about what we're thankful for, what we, what we can do to give back, or what we did to give back, um, during the year. So let's talk about that. What are some of the things that we did, or you guys did to give back?

Speaker 1:

We did the Opportunity House.

Speaker 2:

Okay, opportunity House, and what did we do there?

Speaker 1:

Served food for the homeless.

Speaker 2:

Very good, very good, and it was fun. Right, it was a lot of fun. We made chicken and what else did we make Chicken?

Speaker 1:

We made like scallop potatoes, scallop potatoes and we served cake too.

Speaker 2:

The chicken was good. It was really good, yeah, it was really good. So what else did we? You guys just did something the other day that I thought was really cool, and I was not with you.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it was. We went to McDonald's.

Speaker 2:

Okay, let Catherine talk to you about it. Go ahead, no, go ahead, we went to McDonald's and we had.

Speaker 1:

We got cheeseburgers for these people that were homeless and asking for food and they really liked it.

Speaker 2:

But where did you see them at when?

Speaker 1:

were you at Then.

Speaker 2:

You saw them Target shopping center and they had the signs there and stuff, and instead of what you guys did is you decided to go back to McDonald's get a cheeseburger, right?

Speaker 1:

Two cheeseburgers.

Speaker 2:

Two cheeseburgers and you gave them. To them, were they thankful.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's cool. That's really cool. I was not there, but I think it's a great thing to do and then we did the tree at church, like where you get the clothes. Yeah, oh, okay, we did the tree.

Speaker 1:

It's like the. What was it called again? What was that called, mom?

Speaker 3:

The tree at church, the Giving Tree, yeah, the Giving Tree.

Speaker 1:

And we picked up clothes for, I think, 9 to 12-year-olds. Okay, yeah, months.

Speaker 2:

Yeah 12. So they know people that need stuff, right, and then you give them that. Okay. And then Toys for Tots too. We dropped those off at the Berkshire. Okay, you guys got to get up in the microphone, nobody's going to hear you.

Speaker 1:

Dro Dropped them off at the bird.

Speaker 2:

Okay, very good, okay, good, good, good. And then what about? I know, Carson, you were collecting food for school.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, we donated like $5,000 in cans to Helping Harvest at my school.

Speaker 2:

Very cool. I know you were taking stuff in every day. So your school donated all that to the Helping Harvest, which is awesome.

Speaker 3:

And Carson's part of student council this year, so we get to help out with that a lot.

Speaker 1:

That's right. I had all the cans and had an assembly about it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's cool, Very cool Awesome. And we've been doing it for 22 years 22 years They've been giving food and stuff Wow, amazing. So I got a question. What did you ask for for Christmas this year, carson?

Speaker 1:

PlayStation VR 2.

Speaker 2:

What exactly is that?

Speaker 1:

Like a virtual reality thing it's like a virtual reality PlayStation company thing.

Speaker 3:

Okay, this was just a new decision as of yesterday.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yesterday, when we were no, that's not true at all.

Speaker 3:

I've been asking for it since Up until that you said a controller, but all right?

Speaker 1:

No, that's not true at all but okay.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So virtual reality is one of those things you put the goggles on and you kind of just do this right.

Speaker 3:

I thought you and Dad were excited when you saw that at BJ's the other day.

Speaker 2:

It was very cool.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because you thought it wasn't a thing.

Speaker 2:

It is a thing. There you go. Okay, there's a little discrepancy here on the Christmas list, a little weird there.

Speaker 3:

Hopefully you told Santa.

Speaker 2:

Catherine? What are you looking? What were you asking for?

Speaker 1:

An.

Speaker 2:

Apple Watch. Apple Watch, okay, good, good, and that just works with your phone, I guess, right, yeah?

Speaker 3:

Yes, you ask for from santa.

Speaker 2:

I asked for just peace. No fighting with children. They were making cookies right before we.

Speaker 3:

That's right, there's cookies here to try.

Speaker 2:

I say that isn't there some cookies to try here? Katherine, you made cookies, yes, okay. Are these edible? Yes, okay, hugo, you had one. Are you still alive? Hugo liked it. Hugo's still alive, so that that's good. So I'm going to try a cookie here. Can I have some of your water? No, because the thing will fall, but you can, if you want, go ahead, that's fine, I'll do that. Yeah, that's fine. Oh, very good, very good. Making quite the mess here. Very good, cookies, though. Okay. So what are some of the other things? Oh, you're doing for the first time? You did band. Yes, yeah, you did.

Speaker 1:

Our little drummer boy yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I think, what did you play? You played snare. I played the snare and bells, snare and bells, and that was your first time playing right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, first time in band.

Speaker 2:

Cool, catherine, you're doing, did you do do, did you do do, did you do chorus? You're doing some kind of chorus thing. What was that?

Speaker 1:

I have a job for slack chorus and I'm in it at my school.

Speaker 2:

Okay, cool.

Speaker 1:

I was supposed to go to school with Carol, but I got sick. Oh, you got sick, that's right.

Speaker 2:

Carol, but I got sick. Oh, you got sick. That's right, you were supposed to go to school with Carol. Amazing, amazing. Well, is there anything else that we're? What else are we looking forward to in this year coming up? What are you doing? She's like wolfing a whole cookie. Oh my God, good, amazing, anything else that we're doing. What are we doing this year? Anything exciting, then we'll wrap, yeah, coming up in 2025. What do you want to do? I want to. I don't know you guys are silent this year.

Speaker 1:

I definitely don't want to go to school.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh but.

Speaker 1:

I want to go to Disney. Oh, my gosh oh yeah, for my 10th birthday.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's right, You're turning 10. Catherine, you're turning what? 13. Whoa this year coming up she's irish yeah yeah, exactly, all right, is there anything else.

Speaker 3:

We know how to get them quiet. We'll just come in here yeah, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2:

I don't think I'd never heard you guys this quiet. Well, what do we talk about? Anything you can talk about anything you want you. Just you have to talk. Well, you could talk about. Oh, I know what I wanted to ask you what is what is good, like you are so into, like your nails and your facial products? What's the best moisturizer? What do you use for moisturizers? Right now, you've got to get up on the mic so we understand it.

Speaker 1:

Bubble.

Speaker 2:

What's bubble? You've got to expand, expand. It's like a little thingy.

Speaker 1:

You press it down and it makes a little flower.

Speaker 2:

Okay, but this, and then you put it on your face. And it's cheaper than other stuff. Is that a moisturizer?

Speaker 1:

A moisturizer.

Speaker 2:

Okay, moisturizer. Okay good, I like it. And Carson, what do you think about these Eagles?

Speaker 1:

Well, I feel like Saquon Barkley might get MVP.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

And we might be up in the Super Bowl this year.

Speaker 2:

You think the Eagles will be in the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1:

I hope so If we keep playing good and we get Jalen Hurts back, yes, oh yeah, yeah, he got hurt, that's right.

Speaker 2:

So, Catherine, what's your question?

Speaker 1:

What's your favorite Christmas song? I mean, I know you don't like blues.

Speaker 2:

Favorite Christmas song. You know it's funny. I like the one with Elton John and Ed Sheeran. What about you, mom?

Speaker 3:

I like that one, but I'm also a traditional Elton John's Step Into Christmas, oh gosh.

Speaker 2:

So sick of that song. So sick of that song, go ahead.

Speaker 1:

My favorite, as you should know, is Carol of the Bells. It's a good one, it's a classic.

Speaker 2:

Carol of the Bells. Yes, I don't think I know that one. Yes, you do. Oh, that one. Yeah, that's nice, that's a nice song, carson, what's your? Okay, you don't have one.

Speaker 1:

Blue Christmas. Blue Christmas, that's my least favorite?

Speaker 2:

Oh, my goodness, hugo, what's your favorite Christmas song? The Little Drummer Boy. Oh, okay, that's a different one. That's a good one. I like that. That's a good one. What do you look forward to? We're going to do a couple more questions, then we're going to go. What do you look forward to around Christmas that we do as a family?

Speaker 1:

Giving me gifts. No, I'm just joking, I don't know Just being together, because I like being together, like on Christmas Day, and it's fun.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I don't know. And eating the food.

Speaker 2:

Eating the food.

Speaker 1:

You making your good French toast.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there we go, Jess. What are you looking forward to? I hate French toast. She hates French toast, that's right. I forgot. What are you looking forward to? What do you look forward to? Like every year, like ah, this is what I look forward to.

Speaker 3:

On Christmas or anything around the.

Speaker 2:

Christmas time, you know, food or something that you look forward to Anything.

Speaker 3:

Well, obviously, being with family, but we before Christmas, I look, I enjoy when we go out looking at lights. Oh wait, yeah we're doing that.

Speaker 2:

We're going to do that, yeah, and also um one other question real quick too when? When do you start listening to Christmas songs? Do we start Um?

Speaker 1:

after the day after Halloween.

Speaker 2:

Day after Halloween.

Speaker 1:

Starting now, I've learned from dad, like later in December.

Speaker 3:

Yeah Well, like later in December. Well, that's Dad's choice, you don't?

Speaker 1:

have to do that.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's what happens, See. I think Christmas songs should start.

Speaker 1:

I think they should.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I agree. And what happens is Jet's like no, you don't get sick of them. No, when do you start listening, jess?

Speaker 3:

As soon as the channel turns to Holly.

Speaker 2:

So you rely on XM, sirius XM, for your Christmas songs, right.

Speaker 3:

This year it was the day after Halloween. This is too early, way too early.

Speaker 1:

It's also just because they play most of the same songs over and over again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I agree, I agree, I agree, like Blue Christmas Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree you just said that was your favorite, but like it's getting old, no rocking around the Christmas tree.

Speaker 1:

They always play.

Speaker 2:

They always play all the Christmas, isn't it a?

Speaker 1:

sleigh ride.

Speaker 2:

Sleigh ride together with you, yeah, yeah, all right. Anything else? I think that's it. I don't think so, all right. Well, we have to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas. That's all for now. Okay, that's a very Merry Christmas we have. I hope everybody has a great 2025. Yes, you know so much to be thankful for. We're here, we're healthy, we have great times coming up in the next week and a half, and we'll see everybody next year. What does Grampy say? God willing, see ya. Merry Christmas, everybody. Happy New Year and we'll see you next year. All right, that's about it. Bye, this is short. Everybody, happy New Year and we'll see you next year. Alright, that's about it.
