High Reliability, The Healthcare FM Podcast is brought to you by Gosselin/Martin Associates. Our show discusses the issues, challenges, and opportunities within the Facilities Management (FM) function.
We celebrate Halloween on the podcast with a special roundtable discussion, "What keeps you up at night?"
My thanks to three professionals in healthcare facility management who joined the discussion:
- Cory Majszak is a facilities professional with over 23 years of experience. Cory recently took on the role of Director of Environmental Services at Rogers Behavioral Health. Before beginning with Rogers just days ago, Cory was Director of Facilities at Advocate Aurora Health in Wisconsin;
- Claire Meeks is the Associate Director for Customer Success at FSI. FSI provides comprehensive computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) for hospitals nationwide. Before joining FSI just days ago (no, that is not a mistaken reprint from above!), Claire was Operations Director with Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC;
- Vance Vinson, Director of Facilities at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. Vance oversees 946 beds across 3.5 million square feet of space. He has worked in healthcare facilities management for more than 25 years.
Topics discussed include:
- What keeps you up at night, and moving on to new roles (8:00);
- Struggles with legacy applications, and is the role becoming too big for one person? (24:00);
- Compensation and dwindling talent pools (32:00);
- "I don't want to be a manager, I see what it is like, and I don't want that." (50:45);
- Talking candy and some final, optimistic thoughts on the profession (59:00).
As always, we thank you for listening to the podcast and hope you will subsc, downloadload, and rate the podcast.
