Show Notes

“One more thing the angels do in fulfilling God's purposes is that they are constantly and directly glorifying God.” - Pastor Jeff Cranston

Hello Kitchen Table Theology Family!  In this episode, Pastor Jeff and Jen Denton continue their discussion on Angelology. So far in this series, we’ve discussed what angels are and today we talk about what angels do.

[00:01] What is the Purpose of Angels

  • Angels show the greatness of God's love and plan for us
    • Nowhere in Scripture does it say that angels are made in God's image like man
    • God gives us authority over angels (Heb 2:7)
    • We are to judge angels (1 Cor 6:3)
    • Angels serve us (Heb 1:14)

[06:34] The Differences Between Angels and Man

  • Man has the ability to bear children and those children bear upon themselves the image of God
  • God prepared a plan for salvation when man sinned (2 Peter 2:4)
  • Angels are genderless
  • Angels remind us that the unseen world is real
  • Specific purposes and plans that angels have fulfilled or will fulfill
    • Pour out bowls of God's wrath on the earth (Rev 16)
    • Patrol the earth as God's representatives
    • Carry out war against demonic forces

[17:31]  Last Key Things to Note

  • Angels’ purpose is to constantly and directly glorify God (Psalm 103)
  • God's sovereign plan for the church was displayed before the angels and demons. (Eph 3:10)
  • A woman should have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels
    • Angels witness the lives of Christians and glorify God for our worship and obedience (1 Cor 11:10)

 [25:57] Final Thoughts
