Show Notes

Welcome to Craig, Colorado, the "Elk Hunting Capital of the World!" The town of Craig was incorporated in 1908 and was named for Reverend William Bayard Craig, one of the town's financial backers.  Craig became the seat of Moffatt County when it was created out of the western portion of Routt County in 1911.  Located in the Yampa Valley, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes until settlers moved into the area in the 1800s.  Petroglyphs carved by early tribes can be found on canyon walls throughout the region.  Craig is home to the Museum of Northwest Colorado.  The museum has one of the largest collections of Old West firearms in the country.  The town is also a perfect jumping off point for numerous outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting, wildlife viewing and gold panning.  We hope you enjoy our trip to Craig!
