This month’s Inspiring Innovations LEARNING MOMENTS Podcast was a “long-time-in-the-making”! No, I don’t mean it took me a long time to record it… rather it took me a while to organize the message in a calm… but strong way. And because I have prioritized being progressively Organized for Tomorrow my whole life/career… I didn’t want to underestimate the energy it takes to be successful in this area.
Please be advised that I have expanded my allotted podcast time to 10 minutes. And unexpectedly… I believe the extra time for discussion I allowed myself has resulted in a much more clear and understandable LEARNING MOMENT.
Enjoy the listen.

Hello again and welcome to the July 2024 Inspiring Innovations Learning Moments podcast. My name is Marv Pickla, and I am your regular discussionist host as we monthly share a conversation centered around at least one of our foundation learning moments topics. And you remember, right? The main topics are leadership and communication and professional development and my career-long favorite, innovation. But before we get into this month's topic, and I guess I need to announce a slight podcast adjustment I plan to ease into over the next few months. Historically, I've tried to limit my podcast link to about five or six minutes, right? I chose this short time frame based on the typical attention span connectivity with listeners, mine too, and to try and better connect with learning moment information that's shared in a in a slow, calm, regular way so that nobody kind of gets confused or overwhelmed or even bored. Pretty straight up, right? Well, based on some very wise feedback on certain topics that deserve a little more time to ensure understandability and thereby enable me too to not just rush and not be complete in the message, the learning moments that I'm trying to get at. I will try to adapt to a new cap of learning moments time in ten minutes. So, with that in mind, you guys, set your listening time clocks accordingly. Know that I have not extended the podcast time to get wordy or babble. Rather, know that I will be more satisfied with each inspiring innovations learning moment that I share, and that quality matters in this and in all that you do, okay? Now let's get on with july fifteenth topic. Simply put, our topic will be are you organized for tomorrow? Are you organized for tomorrow? Let's start thinking about that from your workplace standpoint. And here's some questions. Does your workstation have a modern day look? Does it? Do you have old pictures, old posters, old stuff surrounding you? And if asked, what have you done to modernize your area? What would you say? Close your eyes and picture your workstation and think about it. I used to issue a top ten series of directives every Friday morning to the entire work gang that worked with me. The goal, my goal, was to focus their attention on what was coming next week, the future, rather than complain about and or disagree about what happened the week before or the week before that? Do you think this action pushed everyone to be more organized for the future? Next, think about your sources of information, news that you absorb each day. Here's some more questions. Do you scan your Facebook or social media connections to see what's happened? Old news, yesterday's stuff? Or do you seek out informational items that talk about future activities and what's coming? Right? Or do you constantly spend most of your time catching up on past due obligations or prioritize only very little time each day to think about and maybe dream about the future? Finally, consider who you converse with each day. Think about family and co-workers, professional colleagues and friends. And here's some more questions. Do you mostly discuss gossip style items? You know what I'm saying, that really are just old past stuff and news? Do you try and instead lead the conversation and maybe in a more positive and what next way? And do you become more selective on who you converse with and protect your time because your time can't be replaced. Once it's gone, your time is gone. So do you protect it on thinking about tomorrow? Well, I guess the bottom line for this month's Inspiring Innovations Learning Moments podcast, Are You Organized for Tomorrow, is to maybe again walk yourself through a specialized self-assessment. And besides the questions that we've already tossed out there, what about are you organized for innovation? Think about that. Are you organized for innovation? Next, do you take advantage of today's techno future learning tools well enough? Or do you just use them because you have to? Do you prioritize progress events and communications? Or is it what is everybody else doing communications? Do you surround yourself with growth-minded colleagues and people? Do you surround yourself with growth-minded colleagues and people? And lastly, are you partnering in whatever you do with future thinking organizations to discuss creativity and what next? Do you? Many times being organized for the future is more about you than your job or home life. I believe many have the power and the authority to be a tomorrow thinker and a tomorrow doer. Take advantage of that privilege, that opportunity, and don't leave the future, your future, totally up to someone else. You know what I mean? Well, thank you for allowing me a little extra time during these podcasts to, you know, slowly or more patiently deliver the messages that I want to share with you. Thank you so much for joining me every month and listening. And I enjoyed sharing this one with you a lot. And we'll discore discuss even more stuff next month.
