U.S. Army Technical Sergeant Charles H. Coolidge was the recipient of the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty for his actions in France against German armored forces in October, 1944.  A native of Tennessee, TSgt Coolidge was drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1942 and served in the European Theater.  He was discharged in 1945 after the war.  

In addition to the Medal of Honor, TSgt Coolidge was also awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  TSgt Coolidge died in Chattanooga, Tennessee on April 6, 2021 at the age of 99 - three days before this podcast episode was published on The Dirt Wasp Podcast.  His son, Charles H. Coolidge, Jr., is a retired Lt General, U.S. Air Force.
