Melissa Lyon West has a supportive husband and together they are raising four children. To call her life today typical would be a compliment, considering her first thirty years of life.
Melissa was raised in a cult like environment in Maryland. No music, strict clothing rules, no dancing, no dating, home schooled, and her father was the Pastor of their small fundamental Baptist group. The men were in charge, the women married young, had children right away, and were homemakers. The men and women in their religious group each had well defined roles, but Melissa found herself struggling with the role she was supposed to live. She suffered alone because admitting she had problems meant something was wrong with her.
Melissa tells her story of desiring another life, a life where she had a say in life's decisions.
