On April 3, 2018, I launched Leave Your Mark with a curiosity about people and the experiences that shape them. Five hundred episodes later, that curiosity remains, along with the weekly commitment to make room for a meaningful conversation. To celebrate this milestone, I’m joined by my friend Stu McMillan, whose support and friendship have been part of this journey.

Although many know Stu through his work in elite performance, this conversation explores the person behind the coaching: the work ethic he learned from his father, the fine line between persistence and stubbornness, and the pursuit of quality that runs through everything from developing athletes to making a great espresso. We discuss going all in, recognizing when to walk away, choosing collaborators, and finding a balance that keeps both the work and the person doing it healthy.

Something is fitting about exploring persistence on episode 500. Sustaining this podcast has meant showing up week after week, listening closely, and remaining open to what another person’s experience might teach me. Stu and I reflect on how our paths take shape over time, how our interests evolve, and why the people we share the journey with matter so much.

Thank you to every guest who has trusted me with their story and every listener who has made these conversations part of their life. It is a privilege to keep learning alongside you. Enjoy episode 500 with Stu McMillan.
