Here we take a systematic approach
Some initial reflections from St. John Henry Newman open our minds to the human necessity for some authoritative source outside of the self.
Then we look at the Old Testament. When we look at the NT, we take a few clear steps
1) Jesus is the one with absolute authority
2) Yet he recognizes the authenticity of man-made religious authority and respects it.
3) He gives authority to men.
4) St. Paul expresses boldly his authority, and says that it is communicated in the written and verbal form.
