ADVENT PODCAST SCRIPT — DAY 3

The Messiah: Mighty God

Scripture: Isaiah 9:6 (NASB) “…Mighty God…”

Today, on Day 3 of Advent, we linger over one of the most astonishing declarations Isaiah makes about the coming Messiah: He will be called Mighty God. What a breathtaking title. A Child… born in weakness… wrapped in cloth… laid in a manger… And yet—Mighty God. Not symbolic. Not poetic. Not a metaphor for strength. But God Himself.

This title tells us two things:

1. He is able. The word “mighty” speaks of a warrior—one who fights for His people. Jesus is not passive about our struggles. He steps into them. He confronts what we cannot. He breaks what binds us. He carries what crushes us. Whatever feels too big for you today—He is bigger still.

2. He is present. The Mighty God does not rule from a distance. He came near—so near that He became one of us. He entered our frailty, our pain, our humanity. He knows the weight we carry, and He walks with us in it.

Advent reminds us that the God who governs galaxies also holds our hand. The God who spoke stars into being also hears every whispered prayer. This world can make us feel small, powerless, overwhelmed. But we belong to the One whose power never fails and whose love never fades.
