The Messiah: The Door
Scripture: John 10:9 (NASB)
“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
Day 17 of Advent brings us to a simple yet deeply reassuring truth:
Jesus calls Himself the Door.
Not a wall.
Not a maze.
Not a locked gate.
A Door—open, accessible, and inviting.
When Jesus says, “I am the door,” He is telling us that life with God is not earned by effort or achieved by perfection. It is entered.
He is the way into salvation—where our sins are forgiven and our souls are made new.
He is the way into safety—where we are protected, known, and kept by the Shepherd who never sleeps.
He is the way into rest—where striving ceases and grace takes over.
And He is the way into the Father’s presence—where we are welcomed, not tolerated; loved, not tested.
We do not climb our way into God’s favor.
We do not force our way through fear or guilt.
We simply enter—through Christ alone.
In a world searching endlessly for meaning, identity, belonging, and security, Advent gently reminds us of this unchanging truth:
The Door is not hidden.
The Door is not locked.
The Door is open.
And Jesus Himself stands there, inviting us in.
