The Messiah: The Light of the World
Scripture: John 8:12 (NASB)
“I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
Today we return to one of the central themes of Advent: Jesus as the Light of the World. Advent reminds us that God did not leave humanity to stumble in the dark. He stepped into our darkness Himself—and brought light.
Light has a way of changing everything.
It exposes what has been hidden.
It guides those who have lost their way.
It warms what has grown cold.
It brings life where there has been decay.
Jesus does all of this.
When He speaks, truth becomes clear.
When He leads, confusion gives way to direction.
When He is present, fear loosens its grip.
Light does not argue with darkness.
It does not negotiate with it.
It simply shines—and darkness retreats.
That is why Jesus does not say He brings light. He says, “I am the Light.” Where He is, light is inevitable.
And this light is not harsh or blinding. It is life-giving. It shows us who God is and who we are meant to be. It reveals our need, but it also reveals God’s grace.
If parts of your life feel dim today—uncertain, confusing, or heavy—Advent speaks this quiet but powerful truth:
The Light has come.
And the Light does not flicker.
The Light does not fade.
The Light never loses.
