The Messiah: The Resurrection and the Life

Scripture: John 11:25 (NASB)

“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.”

Day 21 of Advent brings us to a truth that anchors our deepest hope: Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.

He does not merely point us toward life beyond death—He is that life. Resurrection is not just an event in the future; it is a Person standing before us.

Jesus spoke these words in a moment of deep sorrow. Lazarus had died. Martha was grieving. The air was heavy with loss and unanswered questions. And into that space, Jesus did not offer an explanation—He offered Himself.

He brings life where death has reigned.

He brings hope where despair has settled.

He brings renewal where things seem beyond repair.

When Jesus says, “I am the resurrection,” He is declaring that death does not have the final word. When He says, “I am the life,” He is telling us that true life begins in relationship with Him—here and now, and forever.

Because of Him, death does not have the final word.

Grief does not have the final word.

Loss does not have the final word.

Jesus does.

Advent reminds us that the child born in Bethlehem is the same One who stood at a tomb and called the dead back to life. The One who would Himself pass through death and rise again, breaking its power once and for all.

Whatever feels dead in your life today—hope, joy, faith, a dream, or a relationship—Jesus invites you to place it in His hands. Resurrection may not always look the way we expect, and it may not come on our timetable, but life always flows where He is present.
