The Messiah: Savior
Scripture: Luke 2:11 (NASB)
“…there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
On this final day of Advent, we come to the very heart of Christmas. After weeks of waiting, longing, hoping, and reflecting, we arrive at the central truth of the gospel: a Savior has been born for you. Not for the world in general, not for humanity in theory, but for you personally.
Jesus did not come merely to inspire us with beautiful words or to give us moral examples to follow. He came to do what we could never do for ourselves. He came to save.
He saves us from the weight of our sin, from the quiet distance that settles between us and God, from the shame we carry and the hopelessness that often whispers that nothing will ever change. He restores what has been broken. He bridges what has been separated. He lifts what has been crushed.
This is the wonder of Christmas — not that God sent advice, but that God sent Himself. The manger was not a sentimental beginning; it was the launching point of a rescue mission that would lead all the way to the cross and then to the empty tomb.
And notice how the angel says it: “There has been born for you a Savior.” Not for the deserving. Not for the strong. Not for those who have everything together. But for the weary. For the ashamed. For the tired believer who is still struggling. For the one who feels lost, overlooked, or beyond repair.
That means today, wherever you are emotionally or spiritually, you are not too far gone for Christmas. You are not too broken for a Savior. You are exactly the kind of person He came for.
