Show Notes

Lee Carl welcomes local drummer, pianist, DJ, producer, rapper, and childhood friend Tommie "Im'Teezy" Warren to The County Line. "Tom Tom" brings the perspective of a lifelong, black Mississippian to The County Line.

A candid conversation is had between two lifelong friends of different colors from Philadelphia, Mississippi. This episode is a true example of what race relations are like between regular, every day people in the deep south. Tom Tom and Lee Carl discuss the rap game in Philadelphia, Mississippi and how gun violence has contributed to its recent resurgence in the small, east-central Mississippi town. The struggles of parenting and the unfortunate circumstances that result from teen pregnancy are also discussed.

The lack of empathy exhibited by many Americans and the Mississippi state flag debate are two hot-button issues discussed. Although many important topics are discussed, these two friends keep it light, just like they always have. In addition to the serious issues discussed, Tom Tom and Lee Carl have tons of fun discussing their class clowning at Philly High and Northside/Westside Park baseball experiences. Tom Tom gives us insight regarding his childhood friendship formed with country music star and Neshoba County native, Michael Hardy. The two friends share their love for southern hip-hop (Rod Wave, Kevin Gates, NBA Youngboy, and Outkast).

Tom Tom's latest release "Feelings" is featured on the intro of this episode. Go follow Tom Tom on Facebook and Instagram.
