Where to travel in october
Where to travel in october
[00:00:00] Hello, jet setters. How are we doing this week? I don't know about where you're at, but in Texas things are finally starting to cool down a little bit. And it's one of my favorite times of year. My favorite seasons have our spring and fall. I've it's always been spring but the older I get it's now slowly becoming
So I love when the temperatures start cooling down the leaves start turning colors, and it's actually a really great time to travel to because crowds usually dissipate due to kids being back in school. And the summer holidays being over. So today I want to share with you where to travel in October, all around the world. And we have 25 recommendations plus a quick round bonus. So hang in there with me. We will start with Albuquerque New Mexico.
High of 72 [00:01:00] low of 46. It's the fall season and mid tourist season fall is a special time to visit Albuquerque with cool breezy mornings and warm sunny days. During this time of year Albuquerque hosts the largest hot air balloon festival in the world. During their Indian summer. And so the two key events this time of year is the international balloon Fiesta.
And also they celebrate DIA de Los Muertos, which is the day of the dead. As far as Royer to stay, I would recommend the Hyatt Regency to Maya resort and spa. It's technically 15 miles north of Albuquerque, but it offers beautiful views of the mountains. All of the rooms have balconies or patios. And there's five restaurants on site, three outdoor pools, a spa horse stables, tennis courts, and a golf course.
Next we have Algarve [00:02:00] Portugal. And I just came back from Portugal earlier that earlier this year. And unfortunately I didn't have time to make it to the Algarve, but my friend actually did a before our wedding and she loved it. So I've heard very good things about the area. At this time of year, the highest 70 low is 57 it's fall season and low tourist season.
October is a great time to visit because the sun is still out, but the summer crowds are gone. So you can still enjoy the beach. With six to eight hours of sun per day and warm water temperatures. A few key events this time of year, the Algarve classic festival. It's the largest classic car festival or event in Portugal.
The Sagres bird watching festival one of the most popular bird, wet watching festivals in the Algarve. The Feira de Santa Iria it's a celebration of St. Irene. [00:03:00] And they also celebrate Oktoberfest. And I recommend staying at Bella Vista, hotel and spa. It's a beautiful Moorish style mansion for adults with direct access to the Da Rocha
beach. It's a refined hotel that mixes old world design elements with modern amenities, including a restaurant bar outdoor pool and spa.
Next up, we have Asheville, North Carolina. I actually went there last Christmas. And as a caveat, I just have to preface this whole Roundup list. Is that. As much as I would've liked to visit all of these 25 places, I have not physically been to every single one of these places yet, but I've done quite a bit of research. And I've also provided reasons for why you would travel to that particular destination in that month.
But back to Asheville. This is one that I've actually been to. And I went in the winter. And I went [00:04:00] during Christmas time, which is of course magical, but if I return, I would definitely plan for a fall And this is because Asheville is near the blue Ridge mountains, which are stunning to see in the fall with their multicolored forests and stunning vistas.
It's one of the most sought after places to go leaf peeping and during the autumn months, And if you don't know what leaf peeping is, it's odd term. Or phrase, just meaning that you go out into nature and. Look at the leaves, changing their colors. So there's quite a few events that happen this time of year. There's the Asheville quilt show.
The Eliada annual fall festival in corn maze. Asheville vegan Fest. Asheville art in the park. An Oktoberfest, half marathon and 5k. Cider Fest N C. The Thomas Wolf [00:05:00] eight K. The craft fair of the Southern Highlands. The leaf solid gold 50th festival, which is a music festival. And the Catawba white zombie 5k it's Asheville's only zombie race and craft brew run, which sounds pretty fun.
So for your stay in Asheville. I, when we went, we stayed in a couple different adults, only bed and breakfast, which is a really great experience. However, if you'd rather a hotel, I would recommend the Inn on Biltmore estate. The Inn on Biltmore Estate offers four star luxury with white glove service.
And it also provides exclusive access to Biltmore estate, which is pretty much a must visit while you're there. It's probably the most popular attraction in all of Asheville. And I would opt for the Chateau tier of rooms because that [00:06:00] provides. Our access to a private lounge, 24 hour access to it. Private lounge with snacks, a welcome drink, a larger room and better views.
So if you'd like to see full coverage of Asheville, I Multiple posts around this destination on the blog. And I actually have a few of others. In this roundup that i will refer to but asheville is one of the places that i've covered more extensively than others
Next step. We have Aspen Colorado, a high of 58, low 31 fall season and low tourist season. Aspen is a beautiful town to visit in October due to cooler temperatures, vivid, fall foliage, and fewer crowds. It's also a great time for outdoor activities, including cycling and hiking. You can admire the blue skies and snow-capped mountains.
Obviously Aspen is very popular for it's ski [00:07:00] season. So if you want to go for that, you would probably need to wait. However, if you want to go during low tourist season, this is a great time to go. A key event that's happening this time of year is the Aspen film Fest. And you can stay at the St. Regis Aspen resort. It's conveniently located between the gondola and the lift at the base of Aspen mountain.
And this is a very Alpine chic kind of retreat. On-site amenities include cozy spaces, like a library with fireplaces, five dining options and a luxury spa. Though, this is not a ski and ski-out resort. It wouldn't really matter if you were going in October, but it, the St. Regis is a great spot for people watching and I pray ski lounging.
Next we have the Atacama desert in Chile. And I'll also [00:08:00] add another caveat as, since we're at this point, I do my best to pronounce all these destinations correctly. And sometimes I get them. Messed up. So please forgive me if I do mess up pronunciation. And you can let me know and I'll try to work on it better for next time.
So here at the desert in Chile it's a high of 77, low 41 it's spring season and low tourist season. October is a good time to visit the desert, the Atacama desert in Chile because the climate stays dry without rain. This time of year. It's an enjoyable season and it's considered shoulder season, meaning that you'll see better rates.
And as far as where to go, this particular hotel and spa has me really excited based on the pictures and research. It's Tiara, Atacama hotel and spa, and it's this [00:09:00] gorgeous eco chic boutique hotel. That offers these stunning sweeping views of the desert on-site amenities include a map room. Which not really. Come across many map rooms in hotels before. It also has a luck spa, two pools, a wine bar, and a restaurant that sources their produce locally. You can go stargazing, biking, horse riding, and they offer local day and night tours. Next up, we have a place in my backyard. It's Austin, Texas.
I'm based in Dallas. So it's not an immediate backyard, but it's in my state. And that's a high of 82 and low of 60 it's fall season and mid to high tourist season.
It's definitely better to beat the summer heat by visiting Austin in October. I know that firsthand. It's a good time for hiking kayaking and enjoying [00:10:00] outdoor activities. At this time of the year, the humidity is lower and the temperatures are more mild. And one of my personal favorites is to visit the hill country right outside of Austin. It's just beautiful. It's one of my favorite places in the state.
A few key events this time of year Austin city limits festival. It's one of the country's largest celebration of music. It's two weekends, three days. Each I've actually been one time with my sister and we did the VIP experience, which was definitely the way to go because there's just a ton of people.
And. And let's face it. I like. As a luxury travel, I prefer to be where there's fewer crowds and nicer amenities. But it was really fun. So if you're into music, that's a great festival to go to. They of course celebrate Oktoberfest. This is one that I hadn't heard of. It's a Quesoff. So off a case off, it's basically a [00:11:00] celebration of all things, melted cheese. So I definitely feel like I should go to that because I am a queso connoisseur.
They have the Texas craft brewers festival and the Austin film festival. And the place that I recommend to stay hands down is Miraval Austin. I actually stayed at this property before it became Miraval at the time it was called Travaasa and. It's gorgeous. So I it's new management different brands, but the property itself is still that same beautiful.
Resort that I initially experienced. Miraval is adults only and all inclusive optional, which is really convenient. It's set on 220 acres of protected forests. And it provides everything you need for an action packed weekend getaway. They have [00:12:00] a huge calendar. Or schedule of activities that you can partake in all complimentary.
And it runs the gamut. There's cooking classes. There's horseback riding there's wellness activities, spa. There's meditation drum classes. Like farming, all sorts of fun stuff. So I love this place. I highly recommend it. And yeah, that's a wrap on Austin. Moving on to the Caribbean. We're going to Barbados.
High of 87, low of 76 it's fall, season and low tourist season. Now if you'd like better rates and fewer crowds, when visiting Barbados, you should go in October. Now caveat, October is usually the rainiest month of the year. Making it one of the most humid. But that being said, there are rarely full days of just rain.
So if you want the [00:13:00] best prices possible. And you can handle some hurricane season weather. This might be the right time for you to visit. A few key events that happened this month. Barbados, jazz excursion and golf weekend. The Barbados national triathlon. And the Barbados food and rum festival. I would recommend staying at the house by elegant hotels. It's an adults only all inclusive resort in St. James.
Barbados. It is actually a part of the all-inclusive by Marriott collection. If you are a Marriott guest and have loyalty points, you can put them towards that. It's a five star boutique hotel that provides complimentary champagne breakfast, motorized water sports, complimentary water taxi evening, canapes, afternoon tea and complimentary jet lag revival massages, which piqued my interest when I heard [00:14:00] about that, because we could all use a good jet lag massage after a long flight.
This next place. I love to visit this time of year, and that is the Bavaria region in Germany. So it's a high of 58, low of 43 it's fall, season and mid tourist season. Bavaria in October is a relatively dry time of the year to visit. And it's just so beautiful to see the multicolored trees and the autumn foliage.
I highly recommend seeing one of Germany's greatest castles, Neuschwanstein. And I saw that myself in person and I saw it during the October season where the trees are golden and orange and just in full force. And this castle is just like towering above the beautiful fall foliage. The architecture of this particular castle looks like it came straight out of [00:15:00] a fairytale storybook.
And this particular castle even served as inspiration for that notable castle design that you see at the beginning of Disney movies.
And of course some. Fun things happening in this time of year, October Fest, we'll be wrapping up if you go early October, because it starts in September. There is the day of German unity. It's a national holiday. There's the Ludwigsburg pumpkin festival. It's the largest pumpkin festival in the world.
On the grounds of a castle. Which is right up my alley. There's the Cannstatter Wasen it's a Volks Fest in Stuttgart. There's the. Oh, I don't know if I'm going to say this right. Deutsches Weinlesefest. It is a grape harvest festival. So if you like wine, like I do, it [00:16:00] is the largest wine growers festival parade in Germany.
And then there is reformation day, which is a Protestant Christian religious holiday celebrated on the 31st. As far as where to stay, I would look into DAS Graseck it is accessible only by cable car and it is a mountain hideaway and wellness focused retreat. Breakfast, buffet and dinner are complimentary. There are two restaurants on site, a beer garden, outdoor pool, and an adults only spa.
Moving over to Asia. We have Bhutan. It's a high of 84 low of 67 fall season and high tourist season. One of the most popular months in the year to visit Bhutan is in October. This is because the weather is warm and sunny. The mountains are clear for excellent viewing. And so you should expect higher numbers this time of [00:17:00] year. And there's also a full events calendar, which also attracts a lot of people.
A few of those key events. I'm really not going to be able to say this one. I'm going to do my best Wangdue Phodrang Tshechu. Oh, sorry. It's it is known as the dance of the ox. So you can Google that it is a three day festival. Celebrating the dance of the ox. Another annual religious festival that's held this time of year is the Thimphu.
Set you up to get Please don't come from me. There are there's also the Royal Highlander festival. And that is a festival that brings together Highlanders of Bhutan to exchange values, knowledge, skills, and best practices. Lovely place to stay here would be six senses. It's a sustainable hotel with 82 villas and suites, and I would opt [00:18:00] for a lodge suite.
Which has 180 degree views over the Thimpu valley. And it has a free standing bath tub with floor to ceiling windows, which we all love. Now the spas at six senses around the globe are world renowned. So definitely book a spa day while you're there. And I would try the Bhutanese hot stone bath while staying.
Next we have the region of champagne in France. A little fun fact. Anything that's called Champagne that does not come out of this region. Is not considered true champagne. It has to use. Lowercase C not a capitalized C and it really should be called sparkling wine champagne from the champagne region of France is the only kind that can be, has a capital C on it.
Because it's considered in the wine [00:19:00] world. The true. Origin place of that particular wine varietal. Just pulling that out of my back pocket of my wine knowledge, but I have actually been to this region as well. And it is just gorgeous. It's there's other things to do, but if you like champagne and you enjoy wine, obviously the most.
Popular thing to do, there are go to the wine tastings and go to the champagne houses. And that's just what I did. I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful time of year to visit. It's not the most popular time. It's low, it's considered low tourist season, which is. Potentially a region reason why you'd want to go this time of year.
And you would be able to visit during the actual grape harvest because that takes place between mid September to mid October. At this time, the vines will begin to change colors to a golden [00:20:00] color. And the summer crowds will have gone away and the weather is mild and pleasant. You can also celebrate the actual champagne day, which is a world event celebrating the beverage of champagne.
And there's also the annual witch festival in Charlene Dre. It's Fête des Sorcières. Sorry. It's been while since I've said my French. So CR yeah, that's, that sounds more appropriate. It's the holiday of the sorceress.
And I would recommend staying at Domaine Les Crayeres. It's a luxe hotel inside of the grand Chateau. That feels like a palace. It's decorated with antique style furnishings. And a stay here provides the ultimate classical luxury French escape. Onsite amenities include an elegant restaurant, a casual brasserie, a bar located in [00:21:00] the sunroom landscaped grounds and multiple terraces.
And it's just an eight minute walk from the Vranken Pommery champagne house. So you could go there. Try a little wine and then walk back to your hotel. Next up, we have Manitoba Canada, high of 43, low 30 fall season and low tour season. Now Manitoba is Chile in October, but it is the time to see the annual migration of Churchill's polar bears. Manitoba is known as the polar bear capital of the world due to its abundance of polar bears in the area. So this is the place to observe these majestic creatures in the wild.
A few events happening this time of year, the Manitoba showcase it is an annual visual and performing arts conference. Manitoba culture days. It's a [00:22:00] celebration of Canadian arts and culture. And the Manitoba ag X. So it's the largest all breeds cattle show. And if you want a real authentic kind of in the wild off the beaten path type of place to stay.
You can stay at Nanuk polar bear lodge. It's a remote eco lodge located on Hudson bay. Guests of this lodge are able to spot wildlife such as polar bears, black bears, wolves, and moose. Depending on the time of year that you visit. But if it's October, then you're more likely to see polar bears.
And it's also a beautiful place to witness the Northern lights. If that's on your bucket list, like it is mine.
Next we have Darjeeling India, high of 71 low of 40 58. It's fall season and low tourist season. If you're interested in visiting the queen of Hills in India, October is one of the best months to visit [00:23:00] because the temperatures are pleasantly cool this time of year. And the fog and rain starts to clear from monsoon season.
A couple of key events, Durga, Puja it's one of the main festivals celebrated by Hindus. And Diwali which is the festival of lights. And that's. More well-known. Indian festival and holiday. Okay, where to stay. Glenburn Tea Estate it's a secluded hotel, surrounded by the Himalayas.
The eight colonial style rooms, feature antiques and hand embroidered bed linens. Tea tastings, airport pickups, breakfast, lunch, and candlelit. Evening meals are all included. Onsite amenities include gardens, verandas, a cozy lounge, and a spa with a steam room. You can go on Fishing trips and guided [00:24:00] hiking
Next up, we have Dubai in the UAE. It's a high of 96, low of 76. Definitely the warmest place out of all of the destinations on this Roundup. But if you can imagine this is actually a cooler time to visit Dubai than other months. The weather is more moderate in October. The temperatures are more cool. So you can definitely expect clear sunny weather.
With little rain, but also just know it'll be warm, but not as hot as it usually is.
As far as where to stay, it's technically 45 minutes outside of Dubai. But when I discovered this place, I really just fell in love with it and wanted to include it in this Roundup. It's called Almaha. It's a luxury collection, desert resort, and spa. It's a private guest only Oasis located on the Dubai desert conservation reserve.
On-site activities include archery, nature [00:25:00] walks, desert drives, wildlife safaris, falconry, horse riding, camel trekking and sundowners. It is a resort for ages 10 and up no children under 10 are permitted.
Now, I've got this next one on in it's Hallstatt Austria. Some people might argue, this is not a good time to visit because of the rain that is expected this time of year. However, if you're looking for. A better deal on accommodation pricing with fewer tourists. You might want to consider going to this destination in October.
There should be some pleasant days in there that aren't too chilly, but just keep that in mind, it's a high of 59 low of 41. A couple key events is this time of year international Bruckner festival. It's a month long festival of concerts, theatre arts exhibits, and fireworks. And [00:26:00] the Vietnam, it's a film festival of mostly European films.
And you can stay at Hallstatt hideaway. It's an adults only all suite luxury hotel, surrounded by mountains. All suites have peaceful mountain and or lake views. Onsite amenities include a private garden by the lake and a private sauna house. Side note. Who do you guys like saunas? I can't do them.
Like, I love the idea of them, but I have eczema, which is really dry skin and for whatever reason, it just, it like does not feel comfortable to me. I feel like I'm burning.
I can't do saunas, but I can do steam rooms. I like steam rooms instead. Okay, next up, we have Tokyo Japan, high of 71 low of 58 fall season and mid tour season. October is one of the best months to visit Tokyo due to the beautiful weather. Temperatures stay. Mild. Humidity is low [00:27:00] and rain is rare.
It's a perfect time for sightseeing outdoor activities and visiting parks and gardens. And there are tons of festivals to participate in. Like seriously. So many, I don't know if this is a. Just this time of year or if it's year round that there's just a lot of festivals. But. I don't, I can't even name them all. You'll have to go to the site to see the full list.
But if you do go to Tokyo in October, Try to make at least one of these celebrations, because I mean, why wouldn't you, that's clearly part of the culture this time of year. So I'll call it a few. There's the Czech festival. It's a celebration of Czech culture over three days. The railway festival. It's a celebration of the opening of Japan's first railway.
There's Oktoberfest celebrations. There are fireworks festivals. There are matsuris. Which are community and religious festivals. There's [00:28:00] flower festivals. There's an autumn festival. There is the Oeshiki festival. It's a Buddhist festival commemorating the anniversary of the death of Nichiren
A Buddhist teacher. There is. A, the Toyama park. Yabusame. It is a procession of a shrine with display of Japanese martial art of horse mounted archery. Which sounds very difficult and impressive. There's the salsa street festival. There is a. I don't know if this is Bake Neko. Festival or
It is a Halloween festival where all of the people dress as cats, which I think would be super fun to see. There is the Indonesia, Japan. Friendship festival. There's so many, all the CEA, T E C, it's a giant consumer electrics show like our CES. [00:29:00] In Vegas in January. There's the Tokyo art book. Fair harvest fair, a grand tea ceremony and the Tokyo ramen show. If you like ramen.
And a beautiful luxurious place to stay while in Tokyo is the Aman Tokyo. It's a modern luxury hotel with panoramic city views. On-site amenities include a peaceful inner garden, a spa, an indoor swimming pool, a high-end Italian restaurant. A bar with a humidor. And a chic lobby cafe. You can enjoy a Hinoki bath salt soak in your rooms. Oversized, volcanic rock bathtub.
The hotel is famous for their black afternoon tea. So be sure to book ahead, if you want to try that. Next we have Minh city in Vietnam. The high of 88, low of 75 fall season and mid tour season October [00:30:00] is considered the end of rainy season in Though you may experience rain during your trip in October, it will be less likely than what you would experience during peak rainy season.
Furthermore you'll likely see lower crowds and prices before the dry season begins in November and a key event this time of year is the Hoi An lantern festival. It's a full moon celebration held on the 14th day of each lunar month. And you can stay at hotel. des arts Saigon. It's a hotel that caters to adults. It is a elegant boutique hotel with French Indochina charm.
Part art museum part hotel. This place features two restaurants, one with a terrace, two bars, one at the outdoor rooftop pool. A spa gym and two tennis courts.
Going back [00:31:00] to the U S we have Knoxville, Tennessee, a high of 70 low 49 it's fall, season and high tourist season. October is a delightful time to visit Knoxville with its football pumpkins and fall foliage. It's the driest month of the year. So you likely won't have to worry about rain. And if you're there, you pretty much should definitely book a visit to the great smoky mountains.
Because that will be definitely worth seeing the trees changing colors this time of year. A couple of key events. If they are. They celebrate pride Fest and they have the Ola festival. It's the celebration of Hispanic heritage month. You can stay at the historic Tennessean it's a polished hotel located inside a building that dates back to the 1982. World's fair. If you can believe it.
The downtown city center location allows for easy access to the great smoky mountains. [00:32:00] Onsite amenities include a restaurant bar, an indoor pool, and a gym.
Next we have Lampang Thailand. It's high of 90, low of 72 fall season and mid tourist season. Lampang is known for its river valleys in Northern Thailand. October is a more pleasant time to visit due to its mild weather. January is technically the busiest month for tourism. So if you visit in October, you'll see better prices and fewer crowds.
A couple of events this time of year is the one OC
I don't know if I pronounce that. Right, but it's a festival. For devout ties marking the end of their lent. Season, and there's also there Memorial day. Which is one of the most significant holidays in Thailand.
And in this region, you can stay at the Baan Suchadaa Lampang resort. [00:33:00] It's a four star adults only hotel surrounded by countryside. Rooms feature balconies or patios. There's an outdoor pool and garden with a fish pond. This hotel offers guests, privacy and relaxation.
Next we have Madagascar. It's a high of 80 low 58. It's considered the winter or the dry season and it's low tourist season
Travel experts recommend visiting Madagascar in either October or September, because during this time the weather is slightly warmer and the lemurs are more active.
And I would recommend it staying at Constance Tsarabanjina. Sorry. If I mispronounced that it is an elegant all-inclusive resort accessible only by boat or a helicopter it's made up of thatched roof beachfront, bungalows that have [00:34:00] ideal ocean views. Meals snacks, drinks, snorkeling gear, laundry services, and one way boat transfers are all included.
Onsite amenities include a restaurant, a 24 hour cocktail bar, a private beach and a library.
Next up, we have Arezzo Italy. Which is where I studied abroad one summer while in college. And absolutely. I was in love with the destination. It's a high of 68, low of 49 it's fall, season and low tourist season. For more affordable time to visit Italy. You can go in October though. You may experience some rainy weather. You can enjoy far fewer crowds than in the summer months.
Like I said, when I was in college and spent the summer abroad there, I loved this place for its quaint Hilltop. Medieval, almost vibes. And this Particular town is located in Eastern [00:35:00] Tuscany. It feels elegant, unhurried and rural. A few key events. This time of year, there is the Fiera
Antiquaria. It's the oldest and biggest antique fair in The Mercato Internazionale it's a, it's three kilometers of. Of streets with food stands and tastings. And there is a celebration of gold made in Italy. Arezzo is actually known for. It's gold production. That's the town made. It's mark and tourism.
With gold jewelry. So I actually bought my first piece of real gold jewelry that I absolutely adored while I was there. It was a beautiful dainty gold chain necklace that had a little diamond charm of a Shamrock on it. And I absolutely adored [00:36:00] it. But at some point. It fell off. And I don't know where it is. I think it's somewhere in Scotland when I was studying abroad there. So it's sad. It's a sad story because I don't have it anymore, but I still have that memory.
Of that purchase and I felt very special and it was a beautiful souvenir and I definitely recommend purchasing some gold jewelry while you're there to make it a special memory
And I would recommend staying at it's a five-star hotel located inside a wooded castle estate dating back to 1254. That's crazy. Sweets and villas are individually decorated and feature wood beam ceilings, which I just And terracotta tile floors. So Onsite amenities include an upscale bistro, a fine dining restaurant, a cafe, a wine bar, an infinity pool, and a fitness room and spa. [00:37:00]
Next up, we have Portsmouth, New Hampshire. A high of 58 low of 47 46. Sorry. It's a fall season and low tourist season. Though this destination is festive. Year-round Portsmouth gets into the seasonal spirit even more during the fall months with restaurants, boutiques, and historic charm. There's something for everyone in this coastal town.
And you can stay at Wentworth by the sea. It's an elegant hotel that overlooks the Atlantic ocean. Onsite amenities include a formal bar and restaurant, a casual eatery with a terrace. Historic gardens, a tennis court, an indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub, a spa and an exercise room. Guests that arrived to the resort by sea can park their boat in the resorts one 170 slip marina
This next destination is [00:38:00] very near and dear to my heart. I went to this place last October and it was Salem, Massachusetts. I absolutely adore Salem, especially in October. The first very first time I went was on a sixth grade trip to Massachusetts and our whole grade went and did a day trip to Salem and I absolutely loved it then.
And so my sister and I, she went on a sixth grade trip with her grade when she was that age. So we both had. These memories of doing the day trip to Salem. And hearing about the witch trials and the history there. And so my sister and I made plans to revisit it and remember things together from our sixth grade years, but then also make new memories together. And it was.
The best trip. It was such a fun sisters trip. It was a fun fall [00:39:00] It was a fun spooky season trip. So it really puts you into the Halloween holiday spirit. If you like that. And even if you don't like the spooky stuff, it's just a beautiful coastal city to visit this time of year due to the weather.
So highly recommend I have a full multiple posts in guide on Salem, Massachusetts. If that's a place of interest to And I'll just get into a little bit of the details. It's a high of 62 low of 45 it's fall, season and mid tourist season. Although I would actually. I would actually say it's more mid to high.
Because of. You know, the closer you get to Halloween. The more busy and populated the town would get. Like I said, there's witchy vibes, but there's also cool crisp mornings. The salt sea, the sea salt is in the air. And there's just something. Beautiful. That pairs, that pairs [00:40:00] Salem with autumn and October, it's just a wonderful place.
And although it was known for the burning of witches at the stake, which is horrendous, it has actually today become a magnet and safe Haven for witchy people. Which makes it very fun to place to visit. One thing that I would definitely recommend if you're going to go in October is to go to the Salem haunted happenings website.
It's considered the largest celebration of Halloween in the world. And it basically is a full month of all sorts of different Halloween related events happening in and around the city of Salem. So definitely go to Salem, haunted happenings to get started planning your getaway. And I didn't stay at this hotel because it was fully booked at the time.
At this time last year. So definitely try to book early, but if [00:41:00] I had a pick of where to stay in Salem, Going back. I would stay at the merchant. It is a beautiful four-star hotel in downtown Salem. And it's an actual. It used to be a home that and there's a whole history behind it. It was owned by a wealthy sea merchant and it's a, has a unique story behind it as a shipping port home.
But what's beautiful about it is that much of the original homes woodwork has actually been preserved. There are exquisite details. That are preserved inside of 11 different rooms. And some of the unique features are heated bathroom, floors, gas, fireplaces, and plush linens.
So there's quite a lot of use of grays and blues, rich reds, dark purples, and deep Emerald greens. Inside of the interior design and it's just [00:42:00] really tastefully done. If you like color and seeing how color it can be. Tastefully used, this is a beautiful interior design. And There's also it, you can admire the Wainscoting and the paneling on the inside of this hotel, they're completely restored and you can actually also still see the restored floating staircases that were works of the 18th century architect, Samuel MacIntyre, who was known for building a lot of the wealthy homes in Salem.
Yeah, that's where I would stay. I know that was a bit of a ramble, but go online and check it out. It's called the merchant. Next we have salt lake city in Utah. It's a high of 66, low 47 fall season and low tourist season. October is a wonderful month to visit salt lake city because
It is after the kids have gone back to school, but before the skiers have [00:43:00] arrived, so similar to Aspen. If you want this sweet spot of time to visit where it's low tourist season. Salt lake city is great to visit in October. And they also celebrate Oktoberfest with live music, food trucks, Utah vendors, and games.
And you can stay at the grand America hotel. It's an opulent European style. Five-star hotel. The rooms do appear to be dated in style. When I was perusing this particular hotel. However they do feature handcrafted furniture, balconies and marble bathrooms, which we love. On-site amenities include a restaurant, two bars and lounges one that serves afternoon tea.
There's a French style. Sweet shop. A spa, an indoor pool and the seasonal outdoor
Next we have Scottsdale Arizona, which is another beautiful spot that I visited earlier this year and have covered completely with multiple posts [00:44:00] on my blog. It's a high of 86, low of 54. It's the fall season and low tourist season. For gorgeous weather, you would want to visit Scottsdale in late fall. And frankly, the time that I visited too, which was late February was almost perfect as well.
So that early. Like early to late fall and then early spring are really beautiful times to visit. Scottsdale because it's a desert location. And you'll definitely avoid that heat, but you'll still, it will still be warm enough for you to. Enjoy pool Which is what I most like to do in Scottsdale.
It's also a great time for hiking dining Alfresco and golfing. Scottsdale is very known. Or it was a very well known for its golf and golf courses.
And as far as where to stay. [00:45:00] I would definitely recommend the Royal palms resort and spa. I absolutely loved this hotel. It was originally a home that was built in 1929. And there's a beautiful love story behind the, this particular, the owners of this. Home. When it was built. So you'll have to hear about that when you visit. That was one of the things that I actually loved about this hotel is that you had scheduled complimentary historical tours of the property and learn.
So much about the history of the home, the architecture. The the changing of hands of management over the years. And, but anyway, Royal palms resort is a high-end resort that has old world style rooms and suites with scenic views, soaking tubs and or patios. The tropical grounds are meticulously, maintained there were people.
All the [00:46:00] time, cleaning and landscaping and, but not in a disruptive way, it was just very well kept and felt perfectly maintained all over the resort. There are posh sitting areas. There are cozy nooks. There's a croquet lawn. There's outdoor fireplaces. The whole place is just one big, beautiful, romantic.
Kind of getaway. So I really love staying here it's got Spanish colonial influence. And I've got more information about it on the blog. I also did a review of the Phoenician, which is very popular. Well-known resort in Scottsdale. The Phoenician spa is incredible. I had a spa day there and it's definitely worth it.
And it's interesting because the Phoenician and the Royal palms resort and spa are literally like next door to each [00:47:00] other. Obviously there's. You wouldn't walk from one to the other because it's. You spread out, but. You can, it's like a five minute drive from one to the next. So my personal recommendation would be to stay at Royal palms, but then go over to the Phoenician for your spa day.
But that's just me. I found the Royal palms to be more quiet. A little more adult. Oriented. Though, neither are adult only, but that's my 2 cents. All right, moving on. Oh, my gosh, we're almost If you're still listening, then thank you. All right. We've got Siem reap in Cambodia. It's a high of 88, low 77. It is fall season and it's the last month of rainy season and this is considered mid to our season. So if you want to skip out on heavier crowds, then visit SIEM reap in October.
At this time, you might still get caught in the rain, but the [00:48:00] tourists will be fewer and you might be able to enjoy some early season promotional rates during this time of year. A few key events is commemoration day of King's father. The Paris peace agreement day. It's a public holiday commemorating the 1991 Paris peace agreement, which ended the warfare between Cambodia and Vietnam.
There is the king ceremony coordination day. And there's the Bonn Pchum Ben it's a two week Buddhist religious festival. And I would recommend staying at a hotel that caters to adults, which is Shinta Mani Angkor. It's an upscale boutique hotel in the French quarter. And on-site amenities include two restaurants, a bar, an outdoor pool with a bar and a spa. The provides outdoor massages, cooking classes are available. And for added luxury opt for one of the 10 villas with private pools and Butler service. [00:49:00]
And. We will wrap it up with a little quick bonus round of just naming off some other great destinations. We've got a Ruba. Bacolod in the Philippines lake district in the UK Lugano in Switzerland.
In Spain, Mendicino in CA California. Laredo in Mexico, Poconos in Pennsylvania. And Taipei in Taiwan. So you made it congratulations. I know sometimes these where to travel.
