Hi, welcome. This is Caroline Walrad, morning with Caroline. I am very happy you're here with me today. I have a very serious question for you. What would happen if you were awakened by the front doorbell ringing and a man is standing outside the door with an envelope in his hand? And yes, there's a whole camera crew behind him. In the late 1950s and early sixties there was a television program called The Millionaire. The premise of the show is about a secret wealthy man who gives a gifts someone new a million dollars each week. Free, no strings attached. How would you accept this gift of a million dollars and nineteen sixties money? The millionaire was at the door saying, Here's your gift of a million dollars. You have been selected to receive this money, no strings attached. What would you do if you were granted an extra nor extraordinary amount of money more than you could even conceive of? What would you do? Well, I think you might find a way to make peace with outrageous abundance. I believe abundance is not just about receiving money, because money is one form of this gift. We can do a lot of things with it, and it reflects our values. But what if we were gifted with an outrageous abundance of love? Somebody may give us so much love and cares for us unconditionally, even within a short period of time. Can we make peace with that? Could it be we are born with limitations to receive abundance, spiritual or physical? Perhaps we cannot accept more than we deserve because of our upbringing. Let's explore another idea of abundance with a story. When I was teaching high school, I always asked the students in the first few weeks of class a question. I met with them individually and asked each of them what grade does he or she expect at the end of the semester? I would record their answer in a grade book, and then towards the end of the semester, because I worked on a point system, I let each of them know how many points they needed to get an ending grade, and thus they would be told the number of points needed on the final for that expected grade, total points. And do you know that if someone came into class thinking of receiving a C and even before the last test they had already earned enough points, total points of earning an A? I guess what he or she did? Yeah, yes, they'd flunk the final. And let's say somebody was far behind in points, they would work like crazy to get what they expected. Most often they received an A on the final test, which means he or she met their original expectation. No one likes to let themselves down from their initial deserving and grade. The grade must meet expectations. You know, most people most often get what they expect to receive in life. Most achieve their goals. We like to achieve the level we expect for ourselves and do really not be disappointed if we get a C when expecting to fail. Is it too much abundance? Too many millions? Too many friends? Too good of health? Too many offers? Too thin? Too fat? Or just plain too much? The question is then, how do we receive unexpected abundance? It comes to, I believe, what we feel deserving of and what we are willing to receive. This goes for money, love, health, marriage, friendships, dreams. Abundance is okay if we deserve it. What have we been conditioned to believe about our worth and then faced with more than we're worth? A homeless person, is it now okay for this person to have two bedrooms and two showers? Probably. But what if someone gave them a castle? How would they feel? But if someone purchased a very large castle and was expecting to have a very large castle and their newly beloved had earned a very small castle to live in, would they be happy? Could they move into one of the castles together successfully, having different expectations of deserving? See, it's a very interesting question. Abundance can come from feeling like you have more than others. External recognition of having what others expect of us is motivating, but not terribly fulfilling. It creates a demand that may not be what we expect for ourselves. Parents want their child to be a doctor. The child wants to be an electrician. It is also so comforting in a group to be alike. It takes a brave heart to leave a group that holds him or her back from their own expectations. Any group, social, family, business, any group does like conformity. The ability to serve our unexpected and lasting abundance, I believe, starts in the heart. It begins with self-love. Trust in what we believe is true for ourselves first. Once you find your heart's desire and share that powerful love and confidence, from following your passion, abundance follows most often without trying. We must be truthful to our own feelings of being a deserving recipient of more than. One of the main keys to deserving abundance is gratitude. Gratitude from where we are in our own journeys, gratitude for the day, for a friend, for a bird in your window. Gratitude when the day produces more for your heart than another day. A wise person once told me, When you feel grateful for something, the universe will give you more of that something. More flows to you to help you feel more gratitude. Now I feel gratitude cannot compete in the heart for feeling deserving. Feeling gratitude for your current abundance is magical. It seems to be one of the keys of receiving untold blessings. Now another key, I believe, to achieving and honoring abundance is not to get attached to the outcome. So where does the positive nature of setting goals fit into this? Well, it will fit in. Another wise person said to me, if you want something, ask for it. Then you will never wonder about it again. You set it in action. Now the timing must be just right for everyone. Every time you worry about the timing of the request or if the outcome will ever occur, it changes the course of the trajectory. For example, sending a request while still feeling fearful of losing it, sending the request with negativity attached, the outcome may not be positive. In fact, because we usually get what we deserve, it may have a negative outcome. We can also be impatient for the gift we asked for. The asking deserves an outcome to have its own timing and journey. The request made will happen when it is the best place in time for everyone involved. In the process of asking for something, I would like to add another rule. If your intuition makes you feel strong about a thought, please do it. Your intuition is only good if you listen to a strong, positive message. God heard your request the first time. Perhaps you are part of the solution with a strong hunch or feeling, and to maintain the vector on a straight course to a positive outcome, following your intuition may just be part of the scenario. Acting on your intuition can also be about something not related to your request. God works in strange ways, and so many people may be benefiting from your request, including you. Rule is just to follow the strong messages that come to you without warning and those thoughts or feelings which make you feel strong and well balanced. Take that chance to be part of your request. One of my favorite movies is A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe playing the part of the 1994 Nobel Prize winner in economics. His name was John Forbes Nash Jr., PhD. Dr. Nash's philosophy was about a superior game theory. He proved mathematically that the best long-lasting solution to any challenge is when participants involved have a favorable outcome. Everyone wins. That's a lovely goal. I keep that in mind often when I'm trying to make a decision how I want to partake in anything. Is this the best for everybody? And how can everybody win something? In the 1970s book Be Here Now by Don Ross Ramdas, still available today, it's about being present. Being present is integral in all manifestations. Without thinking of your desires or needs or wants, it's an evaluation of everything present in front of you. Another of my podcasts speaks on the subject, and many call this topic mindfulness. Be here now for me, close to the same thing as mindfulness. Yet being present with love adds to your now. I suggest buying the book. It's one of those timeless books and meaningful in anyone's life at any age. You know, I still would love to be the millionaire to ring my doorbell. Perhaps he will. May God bless you always with an open heart to give and receive without expectation, just gratitude. And I'm grateful for you being here. Have a wonderful day.
