Episode 59
In Episode #59, we interview three CASAs with experience in advocating for babies. We have Sarah Vernon from New Castle County, Brenda Berry from Kent County and Terry Shuchart from Sussex County. All three of these ladies have advocated for a baby, meaning they are less than 3 months old. In this episode, Sarah, Brenda, and Terry focus on how their advocacy differs from that of an older child especially a teenager. They share some helpful tips and tricks as well. These include:
- Making a Family Tree from the beginning of the case to identify potential resources and placements
- Attending a Medical Well Check to learn how the baby is developing from the doctor's perspective
- Creating a Text Chain between foster parents, DFS Worker and CASA to stay in touch and up-to-date on how things are progressing with the case
These suggestions are great! They are nearly applicable to all cases, not just babies. But today, we're focusing on the tiny ones. Enjoy!
