Show Notes

In Episode #21, we interview Lois Glenn-Carter, a CASA volunteer with her own experience as a youth in foster care. At the age of 9, Lois entered foster care with her siblings due to her mother's suffering from substance abuse. The following day, her mother was murdered and for the next decade, Lois and her younger brother spent their remaining childhood years in foster care. Lois speaks about the challenges but also highlights some of the benefits she received while in foster care, including the relationships she built with her foster parents and workers. She has children of her own now and two decades after aging out, she is now the CEO of a company she started herself to help families through mediation efforts. She brings an incredible view point of the foster care system to her role as a CASA volunteer and we look forward to her advocating for children who are experiencing something similar to what she experienced, Thanks Lois!
