In Episode #52, CASA Coordinator Camille Kesheshian discusses how CASA Volunteers can work positively within their teams. These teams focus around the same goal: Permanency for the Child. During the treatment phase of a DFS case, CASAs will work with a variety of different partners from biological parents to foster parents, from DFS social workers to family interventionists. There are a lot of players involved in reunification cases and CASAs should speak to everyone. However, they do not have to rely solely on the DFS Treatment worker for information...the CASA Volunteer should be speaking directly with the biological parents, foster parents, therapists, teachers, children, and many more. When working as a team, all team members should remain patient and positive, even in situations where not all team members agree on something. It's ok if not everyone agrees...it's not our job to agree. Our job is to represent the best interest of a child experiencing foster care.
