In this episode of the Unbound Writer’s Club, Nicola talks about the Emotional Cycle of Change, a model put forward by psychologists Don Kelley and Daryl Conner. She realised it reflects what writers experience as they go through the book creation process. There are five stages – uninformed optimism, informed pessimism, the valley of despair, informed optimism, and success and fulfilment. Tune in to hear about each of them.

In this Episode:

  • Excitement, reality check, the void, things coming together, and completion
  • You don't know what you don't know
  • The valley of despair is a normal part of the process
  • Having support and a community is so important
  • Do you feel like throwing in the towel with your book?
