Who does God use to accomplish the extraordinary? Is it the skilled? the wealthy? the uneducated? the qualified? the poor? the young? the gifted? or ordinary people?
Today we’re talking about “Exploring Ordinary Life, With An Extraordinary God: Let’s look at “How God Uses Ordinary People, To Accomplish His Extraordinary Purpose”.
Let’s start with a quick read through the story found in John 6:1-14, so you have an image in your mind for connecting the dots.
In the previous episode, we talked about getting clearer on your path by determining your distractions and those things which cause you to lose your focus; in today’s episode, we’ll talk about “Determining Your Life’s Core Product” or in other words, as you connect with a sense of direction for your life, what do you want to be known for?
In the previous episode, we walked through the second level for determining your direction in life with something called the three (3) dimensional strategy; in today’s episode, we’ll talk about getting clearer on your path by determining your distractions and those things which cause you to lose your focus.
In the previous episode, we walked through the first of two levels for determining your direction; the first level was called the "Future Self" Equation; in today’s episode, we’ll walk through the second level which is called the three (3) dimensional strategy.
This segment is all about the mindset, which is about how you need to think in connection with determining your direction, so you can keep your life in forward motion.
In this strategy, we will look at 3 segments for determining your direction. Now as you go through this, you will probably notice that some of the ideas overlap - that is intentional. It is written this way to better help solidify the concept of determining your direction.

Once King Saul realized that David was willing to go out and stand against this menacing threat that was causing grievous harm to the nation of Israel, he was delighted. He quickly dressed David in his own armour. Saul put his tunic on David, put his coat of armour over him, put his helmet on David’s head, and fastened his sword at David’s side.
But something was incredibly wrong with the picture…

In the previous episode, we talked about David’s third strategy of learning to strengthen your confidence using your past victories (a.k.a the grounding strategy); in today’s episode, we’ll talk about David’s fourth strategy when facing any giant in your life which is to simply answer back (a.k.a the careful response) in which you refuse to listen to your giant’s challenge without issuing your own.
David faced an opponent that was skilled in the art of warfare and was a master manipulator who knew how to secure easy victories using the mind game strategy. Goliath tried to taunt, threaten, insult, and intimidate David the same way he had done to the entire army of Israel.
He shouted out, “Do I look like a dog that you should dare approach me with a stick? I will feed your carcass to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field”.
Now by anyone’s standards, when you have a guy that is almost the size of large truck standing in front of you shouting to you how he will cut you into pieces for the animals to feast on…that can be a very intimidating picture which could make a grown man cry and run for cover.

In the pursuit of your dreams, we all get a little shaky and even afraid sometimes…that’s all a part of life; but it is how we deal with those moments of fear and shaken confidence that ultimately decide whether we will succeed or not.
David had a simple but profound strategy for this that I personally use today, and one that you too could use at those moments when things seem to be going a little differently that you’d hope – this will strengthen your faith and confidence that you can indeed succeed.

It’s kinda like this scenario.
You are traveling across the country when you realize that you need water to drink because you are thirsty and becoming dehydrated.
As you search the horizon for a place to refresh yourself, you spot a water well with a small group gathered around it. When you reach the well, you come across people dying of thirst who are sitting at the edge, staring longingly at the water inside. Yet for some reason, no one does anything to change the situation.

Instead of fleeing in fear and cowardice at Goliaths’ intimidating taunts, the reverse actually happened. David actually became angry at this giant who dared have the audacity to make an attempt to come in and try to take away the freedom and rights of his fellow countrymen.
Instead of standing and being intimidated, David’s mentality was based on the following statement – “after all I’ve been through, if you really think I’m gonna sit back and just allow you to seize and take away my rightful inheritance without a fight, then you are sadly mistaken. I won’t be intimidated and I won’t be denied, I’m prepared to rip off your head if I have to – but you won’t take what belongs to me.”
