Changing the Narrative - Ed Accura, Co-Founder of the Black Swimming Association & Producer of "A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim"
Show Notes

Ed Accura is a rapper, songwriter, podcast host and co-founder of the Black Swimming Association. He is also the producer of A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim, which aims to understand and highlight the cultural and societal reasons why a disproportionate number of Black people can't and don't swim. Blacks Can't Swim the Sequel is due to be released in mid-2021.

In this episiode, Ed speaks candidly about his own swimming journey and what inspired him to produce the film. He sheds further light on the barriers faced by Black people in learning to swim and participating in water based activities, both as children and as adults. He also shares the purpose behind the Black Swimming Association and explores some of the ways which the stereotypes can be challenged, barriers can be broken down and the narrative changed.

The Black Swimming Association  aims to provide education, advocacy, research and support for people of colour in aquatics. Find out more about the work of the BSA here:
