Sports Nutrition & Running Your Own Race - Alexandra Cook, The Sports Dietitian
Alex Cook is a registered clinical and sports dietitian with over 15 years of experience in dietary management. Alex specialises in endurance nutrition, supporting a range of athletes, from ultra distance enthusiasts, elite level junior athletes to supporting multi-day expeditions in challenging environments. She is a qualified Athletics Coach with UK Athletics and has been a competitive runner for almost 20 years, including wins at 2016 Race to the Stones and Snowdonia Ultra in 2017.
Her experience in the sports helps her identify and work successfully with a number of professional and amateur athletes on improving performance through diet and nutrition. She is a contributor to a number of brands and publications within the diet and fitness industries including Redbull, Athletics Weekly, Runners World,Trail Running magazine, Fit and Well and Cosmopolitan.
In this episode, Alex talks about what motivated her to pursue a career as a sports dietitian, some of the common challenges her clients face and the greatest transformations that she has seen as a result of changes in diet. We also discuss how to focus on your own needs instead of feeling you need to go bigger every time - and the benefits that this approach can bring to your own health and wellbeing.
