Evening Prayer for Sunday in Lammastide, 2nd August 2020
Aug 01, 2020
Michael

An "Outside Broadcast" evensong for Lammas-tide from beside a field of Wheat in nearby Brecon. "Lammas," or Loaf Mass, marks the point in Early August where ancient Christians gave thanks for the start of the Wheat Harvest. At the Eucharist, they offered a loaf baked with the newly harvested and milled wheat. A few gusts of wind cause microphone noise briefly towards the beginning of the recording.

You can follow the service in the Book of Common Prayer or on the website here

Please note, however, the Readings are from those set for Lammas tide, Leviticus 23:9-15 and St Matthew 15:32-end. The Psalm is 126, taken from the Welsh Psalter, as the recding was in Wales!
