As a youth coach and/or organizer, you've probably heard of Safe Sport, the "Rule of Two" and Rowan's Law. What do we need to know as we prepare our programs for the re-opening of curling clubs? In this episode, Jennifer Ferris, Manager of Programs & Operations for the Ontario Curling Council, joins me with updates to these three essential issues for youth curling.
Some of the topics we discuss include:
* What is "Safe Sport"? (1:23) and the ''Universal Code" (3:58)
* Clubs need to ensure policies are in place and updated (6:49)
* Coaches need to act if they see abuse (8:40)
* The "Rule of Two" and how it's not only for kids (9:56)
* An update of Rowan's Law (concussion awareness), including a "return to play" procedure (16:11)
* Injury prevention - for example, the use of double grippers and helmets (22:40)
